ASSIGNMENT 6

Identify your ethical principle and apply the principle of universality of deontology to

determine whether your ethical principle is right or wrong. Show the logical implications if the

principle becomes a universal law.

Based on the principle of universality of deontology, my ethical principle is right

because the principle of universality of deontology states that duty or obligation is the main

motivation or intention in human actions. My principle claims humans are born with a moral

compass that directs their actions to do what is morally right. These inherited reigns

essentially distinguish between "rights" and "wrongs" in life. Everyone has the same rights,

the right to life and the right to happiness to reign. Deontology states that we should be

doing something over which we have total control. Moreover, doing what is right is our

obligation. My principle aligns with it because my ethical concept seeks to persuade

individuals to live under the moral law and to always do good to become virtuous. Living our

lives by doing the right thing is what we should do, and it will guide us in developing our

well-being. A good individual is someone who lives in such a way that virtue reigns. The

drive we have for doing the right thing is very essential, and we should fulfill our duty solely

for the sake of doing the right thing. In my principle, it considers which actions are the right

thing to do and then proceeds from there, and it’s likely in the principle of Deontology that if

it's the right action, I have the moral duty to act on it, while if it's the wrong action, then I have

the moral obligation to act accordingly. My ethical principle has the potential to be a universal

law because it allows individuals to do what is ethically right to reign genuine happiness in

their lives. It encourages individuals to do the right thing and allows them to gain further

virtues.
