Definition of Explanation Text
Explanation text is a text which tells processes relating to forming of natural,
social, scientific and cultural phenomenons. Explanation text is to say ‘why’ and
‘how’ of the forming of the phenomenons. There are three main types of
explanation texts: causal, sequential and cyclical. Causal explanation are details
what causes the change from one stage to the next. Sequential explanations
are explaining the flow of a series of events according to the time they happen.
Cyclical explanations are texts that explain a cyclical phenomenon.
Purpose of Explanation Text
To explain how and why cyclones can occur.
Tells the process related to cyclones.
What Causes a Cyclone?
A cyclone is a natural disaster
which can cause massive
destruction. A cyclone is basically
a large funnel of spiraling winds
and clouds combined. Even
though a cyclone might look
harmless it can cause massive
mayhem.

General Statement
For a cyclone to form it needs 2 elements, warm water and moist air.
Firstly, moist air over the ocean rises up from the surface, it starts to
form a cyclone. Secondly, as this warm air rises up and away from the
ocean surface, it causes an area of lower air pressure below. This pulls
cooler air with higher pressure in to replace it, but then when this air
becomes warm and rises it starts a cycle and continues to repeat and
build, gaining speed as it goes. Then, a tropical storm known as a
cyclone is created. During a cyclone, thunderstorms and floods
midway of the storm can be created.

Sequences of Explanation
Cyclones are dangerous natural
disasters which should always be
tracked and to be cautious if one ever
forms.

statement and previous explanations.
