Typhoons can destroy properties and lives. It is necessary and wise to prepare for emergencies in
order for us to feel secure and safe. It is important to know the precautionary measures before, during, and
after a typhoon.
2. Check and fix your house for any damage so that it will withstand strong winds.
4. Cover your glass windows and appliances with a cloth to avoid splinters when they break.
5. If you see signs of water rising, better turn off the main source of electricity.
6. Do not wade along flooded areas to keep yourself from contracting water-borne diseases. If
needed, wear protective gear like a raincoat and boots to protect yourself.
7. Wear additional clothing to avoid catching colds and other respiratory diseases.
8. Follow the advice of the local authorities. If they ask you to evacuate the area, evacuate calmly.
1. Monitor and update yourself with the progress of the typhoon through radio, television, or the
internet.
2. Watch out for live wires or any electrical outlet that may be submerged in water. Have a
knowledgeable person inspect electrical connections before using electrical appliances.
3. Repair all damages in the house. Clean your house and surroundings as well. If your house is

heavily damaged, listen to the advice of authorities regarding its safety and stability.
5. Wear protective gear like boots. Water-borne diseases such as Leptospirosis do not only spread
out during typhoons but also after the typhoon.
6. Clean up and dispose things that may become breeding places for mosquitoes.
