of the new lesson
Elicit responses based on the song.
(Exploration)
● What are the different weather mentioned in the song?

● What can we do during sunny day? Windy day? Rainy day? Stormy day?

Indicator #1 Apply knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas.

D. Discussing new Discussion:

concepts and
practicing new skills Knowledge of the weather forecast for the day helps us make the necessary preparations. Weather
#1 helps us to decide what clothes to wear. We wear light-colored thin clothes in warm weather and dark-
colored thick clothes in cold weather. Weather also influenced the kind of food we eat and the activities we
(Exploration) do every day. During stormy weather, we are advised to stay home for our safety. We store enough food and
other essential needs in case there is a need for evacuation.

Typhoons can destroy properties and lives. It is necessary and wise to prepare for emergencies in
order for us to feel secure and safe. It is important to know the precautionary measures before, during, and
after a typhoon.

Before a typhoon, we must do the following:

1. Listen to weather forecasts on television or radio.

2. Check and fix your house for any damage so that it will withstand strong winds.

3. Store enough supply of ready-to-eat food, clean water, and clothing.

4. Prepare flashlights, candles, batteries, and kerosene lamps.

5. Have a first-aid kit with enough medical supplies.

6. Check and clean your community drainage system to prevent floods.

7. Check electric posts to prevent accidents.

8. Know the location of evacuation centers in your town.

9. Secure domesticated animals in a safe place.

During a typhoon, we must do the following:

1. Stay calm and you must know what to do.

2. Better stay indoors and postpone any travel.

3. Keep updated with the latest weather report.

4. Cover your glass windows and appliances with a cloth to avoid splinters when they break.

5. If you see signs of water rising, better turn off the main source of electricity.

6. Do not wade along flooded areas to keep yourself from contracting water-borne diseases. If
needed, wear protective gear like a raincoat and boots to protect yourself.

7. Wear additional clothing to avoid catching colds and other respiratory diseases.

8. Follow the advice of the local authorities. If they ask you to evacuate the area, evacuate calmly.

After the typhoon, we must do the following:

1. Monitor and update yourself with the progress of the typhoon through radio, television, or the
internet.

2. Watch out for live wires or any electrical outlet that may be submerged in water. Have a
knowledgeable person inspect electrical connections before using electrical appliances.

3. Repair all damages in the house. Clean your house and surroundings as well. If your house is

heavily damaged, listen to the advice of authorities regarding its safety and stability.

4. Boil water before drinking to avoid water-borne diseases.

5. Wear protective gear like boots. Water-borne diseases such as Leptospirosis do not only spread
out during typhoons but also after the typhoon.

6. Clean up and dispose things that may become breeding places for mosquitoes.

E. Discussing new Game: “Where do I belong? (Spin the wheel)

concepts and
