The students designed and built a balsa wood bridge to span a 25 cm gap. Their original design was inspired by warren bridges and had 6 vertical supports and 7 diagonal braces. They documented the design and construction process. On testing day, the bridge held over 9 pounds before breaking at the bottom. While it performed well, the students felt they could improve the design by adding more durable joints beyond just glue and making the bridge lighter.
