The students designed and built a balsa wood bridge to hold weight, inspired by real bridges. Their initial design was too complex so they simplified it. They were able to build the bridge but it only held 6 pounds while weighing 8.5 pounds itself. The students think adding a missing piece could have improved it and that their simplified design was good overall.

Background: Figure 2: Building FIgure 3: Final bridge Conclusion: bridge We used the developing and ● We were not able to hold more using models course domain by weight than our bridge weighed. making our schematic design and We held 6 pounds while our mass was 8.5. trying to make it real. One of our ● I think that the bridge design we inspirations was the firth of forth1 made was good. I think if we put bridge and the pennsylvania bridge2. the missing wood piece on it we would have succeeded more. ● Our bridge design was changed as we simplified our design. We had a Research objective: lot more pieces on our schematic Our objective was to have a bridge This is our final bridge design but we moved for a simpler that could hold the bucket and some This is a picture of Wyatt before it dried. We still had design. building the skeleton of tape on to keep it steady extra weight. We wanted to do this with our bridge while drying.
