The Great Fire of London started in a bakery in Pudding Lane

2. A) The source of heat which started the fire was an oven which was believed to have been left on
by accident by a bakery.
B) No one knows what exactly what the fuel is but some reports talk about houses burning,
presumably as they contain a lot of wood.
C) the historical report tells us that the supply of oxygen for the fire was the strong easterly winds.

3. The wood in the houses acted as the fuels, plus the houses were close together, allowing the fire
to spread.
4. The fire was difficult to put out because of a lack of water and the fact that there werent many
water pumps and there was a lot of distance from the river to the fire.
5. The Great Fire would not happen in the same way today due to wider roads and less use of wood
in buildings. As the wood in the buildings acted like the fuel.
6. The lessons that were learned in the great fire of london were the need for wider roads, better
water supply and less use of wood in building
7. The fire breaks prevent trees from touching and setting fire to their neighbours, allowing a fire to
spread, wider streets mean the fire has less fuel to burn on.
8. People obviously didn’t want to blow up their own houses therefore people tried to stop this from
happening so the further spread of the Fire was prevented by blowing up houses.
