ABSTRACT
Students are social creatures as well as ordinary people who will become one of the
nation's future generations. Many students participate in student organizations to hone
their skills and learn more in the organization. In accordance with Law Number 12 of
2012 concerning Higher Education. Student organizations are a place to develop and
explore their potential in honing leadership, organization, and learning by carrying out
activities that are academic and even non-academic in nature. Student organizations
have a goal, which is to create internal campus governance institutions and also help
achieve the vision and mission of the university. The way that will make internal campus
organizations run properly and just like the state in general, where the campus is
always called a miniature state, is by holding general elections (PEMIRA) to elect the
general chairman of BEM or student president and DPM at the university level. Then,
elect BEM leaders at each faculty level. One of them is the Faculty of Teacher Training
and Education (FKIP) Untirta which is the object of this research. Because with
PEMIRA, students will participate whether it is becoming a candidate, a success team
or even just using their voting rights. Therefore, the research entitled student political
participation in the general election of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education,
Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, is to test the participation and participation of
students in democracy. This research uses descriptive research methods. Meanwhile,
this research was conducted at Campus C of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. Then,
to obtain information and research data, researchers took samples from FKIP Untirta
students. Research materials in the form of observations and interviews. Existing data
are taken from interviews, observations, pistaka studies, and existing books to adjust to
qualitative methods. The data analysis of the observation results of student political
participation in the general election of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education,
Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University shows that the voters are participating students.
While from the results of the interview, many students said that participating in the
general election was important.
