The increasing freight traffic demand excellent logistic facilities to ease border congestion, improve transit efficiency and road safety leading to emission reduction - More than 50% of trade with Afghanistan is related to food and pharmaceutical sector that need storage facilities for product quality preservation. The absence of cold storage and warehousing facilities is leading to wastage of perishable commodities and often huge trade losses. - Presently there is no concept of modern storage, warehousing in District Khyber. Only traditional storage practices leading to damages of quality of products - Logistic and storage facilities have a vital importance in provincial economy. Wholesale and retail trade is important sub-sector of KP economy with 25% share in provincial GDP and 44% share in value addition to services sector. Transport, storage and communication sector has 9% share in provincial GDP with 16% share in value addition to services sector. - More than 50% of District Khyber labour force is being employed in services sector (mostly trade related services). Thus project will positively impact the local economy. - Provision of integrated logistic facilities is in line with Pakistan National Freight and Logistic Policy 2020 and KP Industrial Policy 2020-2030 - During stakeholder consultation, project is being demanded by trade bodies, chambers of commerce, and supported by government agencies like KPEZMC, TDAP etc - The park will offer a one-stop solution for all logistics, warehousing, and cold storage needs for trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan. - The park will enable cost savings by optimizing logistics operations and reducing transportation costs. - The park will offer world-class facilities that meet international standards especially cold storage facilities for food and pharmaceutical products.
