PROBLEM STATEMENT
A study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge
regarding management of kitchen waste among women in a selected community at
Irinjalakuda.

OBJECTIVES
a) To assess pretest knowledge score regarding management of kitchen waste among
women in a selected community at Irinjalakuda.

b) To assess the post test knowledge score regarding management of kitchen waste
among women in a selected community at Irinjalakuda.

c) To assess the association between pretest knowledge score regarding management of


kitchen waste among women and selected demographic variables.

OPERATIONAL DEFINITION
1)ASSESS : In this study assess refers to the process of measuring knowledge regarding
kitchen waste management by using a structured knowledge questionnaire.

2)EFFECTIVENESS: In this study, effectiveness refers to a difference in the pretest and


post test knowledge score regarding kitchen waste management .

3)STRUCTURED TEACHING PROGRAM : In this study structured teaching program refers


to a systematically planned organized teaching activity with specific objectives which is
intended to improve the knowledge regarding kitchen waste management .

4)KNOWLEDGE: In this study knowledge refers to correct response of women regarding


kitchen waste management.

5)MANAGEMENT : In this study management refers to the proper collection, segregation


and appropriate disposal of kitchen waste.

6)KITCHEN WASTE : In this study kitchen waste refers to organic waste materials which
are leftovers of cooked food and its non-edible remnant parts.

7)WOMEN : In this study women refers to those who are managing kitchen work in
families residing in a selected community of Irinjalakuda
HYPOTHESIS
H1: There is a positive relationship between pretest and post test knowledge regarding
kitchen waste management among women of selected community.

H2: There is a significant association between pretest knowledge among women in a


selected community regarding kitchen waste management and selected demographic
variables.
