Abstract:

Folk dance as an academic program has received less attention and interest due to the rise of globalization that in turn
makes culture adopt modern behaviors. It is very evident with how people react and prefer modern, pop, and hip hop
dances.  To have an in depth acquisition of knowledge about folk dance, it is recommended that the teachers should update
themselves with issues and concerns about Philippine folk dances in order to gain opportunities to develop their skill
especially in imparting their own cultural heritage - folk dances.
