Abstract
Online Library Management System is a system which
maintains the information about the books present in
the library, their authors, the members of library to
whom books are issued, library staff and all. This is very
difficult to organize manually. Maintenance of all this
information manually is a very complex task. Owing to
the advancement of technology, organization of an
Online Library becomes much simple. The Online
Library Management has been designed to
computerize and automate the operations performed
over the information about the members, book issues
and returns and all other operations. This
computerization of library helps in many instances of
its maintenances. It reduces the workload of
management as most of the manual work done is
reduced .An e-library provides a convenient way for
users to access and use resources from the comfort of
their location. It also streamlines the research process
by enabling users to quickly and easily find the
information they need. Collaboration is facilitated
between users, encouraging the sharing of knowledge
and resources. E-libraries provide a cost-effective
alternative to traditional libraries by reducing the need
for physical space and resources. Additionally, e-
libraries contribute to sustainability efforts by reducing
the environmental impact associated with the
production and distribution of physical books and
other materials.

The project aims and objectives that will be achieved

after completion of this project are discussed in this
subchapter. The aims and objectives are as follows:
1.Accessibility: To make resources available to users
anytime and anywhere.
2.Convenience: To provide a convenient way to access
and use resources from the comfort of one's location.
3.Efficiency: To streamline the research process by
enabling users to quickly and easily find the
information they need.
4.Collaboration: To facilitate collaboration between
users and encourage the sharing of knowledge and
resources.
5.Cost-effectiveness: To provide a cost-effective
alternative to traditional libraries by reducing the need
for physical space and resource
6.Sustainability: To reduce the environmental impact
associated with the production and distribution of
physical books and other materials.
1.2 BACKGROUND OF PROJECT
The electronic library (e-library) industry has emerged
as a result of the rapid growth of digital resources and
advancements in information technology. Libraries
have been a cornerstone of knowledge and education
for centuries, and with the advent of the internet and
digital resources, the need for a more efficient way to
manage these resources has become critical.
The development of electronic libraries can be traced
back to the 1960s with the introduction of computer-
based information retrieval systems. However, it was
not until the 1990s that the concept of e-libraries
gained significant attention in the library community.
The rise of the internet in the 1990s and advancements
in information technology played a significant role in
the growth of e-libraries. With the widespread
availability of digital resources, libraries needed a more
efficient way to manage their collections and provide
access to users. This led to the development of E-
Library Management Systems (ELMS).
The ELMS industry has grown significantly in recent
years, with many software providers offering a range of
solutions for libraries of all sizes. These solutions often
include advanced features such as machine learning
algorithms for automated cataloging, data analytics for
usage tracking, and integration with other library
systems.
The e-library industry has also been impacted by the
COVID-19 pandemic, as many libraries were forced to
close their physical locations and rely on their digital
resources to provide access to users. This has led to
increased demand for ELMS and other digital library
solutions.
