YO. INTRODUCTION

Violence against women can be defined as any action or conduct that affects
women, either causing physical, sexual, psychological harm or suffering, or death,
whether in the public or private sphere. This type of aggression generally occurs to
women and children.

In Peru, violence against women is a very serious societal problem that results in
health, economic and development problems for towns, it occurs silently in
different families and can generate several consequences.

The aggression is generally caused by the woman's partner or husband, most of

these cases are not reported or denounced, making it very difficult to stop the
prevalence of these in Peru. Statistics on cases of violence against women show
the importance of the problem and the need to improve social policies and actions
to promote and protect women.

In many cases, women, due to their situation of discrimination, are unaware of

their rights, much less how to put them into practice, causing them to become
victims of violence. In several places, they live in a macho society where violence
against women is seen. as a tradition and is considered as an acceptable fact.
II. DEVELOPMENT

2.1 PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

In the district of Trujillo and La Esperanza there has been an increase in violence against women, which is one of the most common and difficult problems to

eradicate, which has various consequences because it violates the functional unit of a society that is the family, disintegrating and generating chaos within them.

Currently, 289 cases of violence against women have been reported, which seems to be a high number. Cases of violence have various causes and factors from which

we can find poor communication between the couple, mistrust of the partner, machismo, emotional dependence, etc. Within violence we find its types, which, the

most common are physical, psychological and sexual violence, of which the most prevalent is psychological. Although the number of cases could be higher,

nevertheless there are victims who decide to remain silent and continue to suffer violence from their aggressor. The main problem of violence against women is

focused on the victim and the people who are affected by it, which are mainly minors in the home, because this affects them psychologically and makes them have

bad concepts about this problem that It can be misinterpreted by them. The management of this problem represents one of the great challenges of local

governments. The problem presented can bring serious consequences such as the suicide of the victim, orphaned children, psychological damage to the victim,

femicide by the aggressor, etc. Which is further aggravated by the population increase in these districts. however, there are victims who decide to remain silent and

2.2 BACKGROUND:

Throughout history, violence against women has always been present. Reviewing the
archaeological and anthropological data, it can be deduced that various civilizations in
the world developed various forms of violence against women. Since ancient times
there have been men who in their cultures were seen as superior beings, therefore,
they abused their physical or political strength to subdue, humiliate and murder
women.
Violence is universal in time and space, in time because it has been and continues
to be present, leading the causes of death in women, and in space because it
infiltrates all societies, whatever their level of development. All women have
historically experienced forms of violence to a greater or lesser intensity, where it
is present in most societies, but is often not recognized and accepted as part of
the established order. Violence against women is a form of discrimination that
seriously impedes the enjoyment of rights and freedoms on an equal footing with
men.

1. In 1989, the Committee recommended that States include in their reports

information on violence and on the measures adopted to deal with it (General
Recommendation No. 12, eighth session).
2. At the tenth session, held in 1991, it was decided to dedicate part of the eleventh
session to the discussion and study of article 6 and other articles of the Convention
related to violence against women, sexual harassment and exploitation of the woman.
The theme was chosen in view of the celebration in 1993 of the World Conference on
Human Rights convened by the General Assembly in its resolution 45/155 of December
18, 1990.
3. The Committee concluded that the reports of States Parties did not always
adequately reflect the close relationship between discrimination against
women, violence against women, and violations of human rights and
fundamental freedoms. The full implementation of the Convention requires
that States Parties take positive measures to eliminate all forms of violence
against women.
4. The Committee suggested that States parties take into account the following observations of

the Committee regarding violence against women when reviewing their laws and policies, and

when submitting reports in accordance with the Convention.

2.3 CAUSES:
● SOCIO-CULTURAL FACTORS: It is a learned, conscious and oriented
practice, the product of a social organization structured on the basis of
inequality between men and women. Gender violence is not an end in
itself but an instrument of domination and social control. The power of
men and the subordination of women, which is a basic feature of
patriarchy, requires some mechanism of submission. In this sense,
violence against women is the way to strengthen that domain.
● INDIVIDUAL FACTORS: In this area, alcoholism is one of the most
frequently mentioned. In the different studies, a relationship between
high alcohol consumption and violence against women by their partner
is constantly appreciated, so much so that alcohol consumption
increases the frequency and severity of violent behavior.

● COMMUNITY FACTORS: Even though it is true that violence is exercised

in all social groups, the results of the studies show that women from
lower social classes refer to it more frequently than women from higher
social classes. But it is not clear why poverty increases the risk of
violence. Is it poverty itself or the factors that accompany it? Is it income,
educational level, disparity between husband and wife in social status or
socioeconomic resources, overcrowding, or other variables.

● FAMILY FACTORS: In the area of family relationships, different studies

have shown that both marital conflicts and the man's domination of the
economy and decision-making in the family can constitute important
risk factors for a situation of violence.
● PROTECTIVE FACTORS: It has recently been shown that the absence of
social support is related to a higher frequency of violence against
women in the couple, and that high social support can cushion the
impact of violence on physical and mental health of the battered
woman.

2.4 CONSEQUENCES

Gender-based violence is a very recurring unfortunate problem today and as such is very

serious for those who experience this situation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, it

has been shown that the rates of women victims of violence have increased.

Therefore, this fact brings a lot of consequences to the victims; such as, suicide
which can be caused due to the same situation, because those who suffer from
violence will suffer serious repercussions on their own mental health, risking
depression, post-traumatic stress, insomnia, among other anxiety disorders.

However, intimate partner violence could also cause unwanted pregnancies,

from which the woman is exposed to gynecological problems, induced
abortions and even increasing the risk of sexually transmitted infections. This
is because women who suffer from violence are 1.5 times more likely to suffer
from these infections.
2.5 TREE ON THE CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF THE PROBLEM
III. CRITICS:
- Critical position of Alva Torrejon, Gimbler Ivanov:Despite being in the 21st

century and the changes that are given, violence against women is still a problem

that we still cannot eradicate due to machismo, recklessness and the stereotypes

that are made against Peruvian women that every day we live in this country a

woman is outraged, raped and abused by someone. Let's stop this once and for all,

let's be empathetic and fight so that one of these days the victim may be your

mother, your sister, your girlfriend or some woman who is important to you, stop

violence against women.

- Critical position of Velasquez Sanchez, Piero Yair:Every day a girl, an adolescent,

a young man and a woman are raped, assaulted and outraged by whom? By her

husband, her sister, even her own children are the aggressors due to the macho

and retrograde society that violates women and the stereotype like the weaker sex,

which is a problem that comes from the lowest socioeconomic level to the highest

and if we do not take action on them in the short term, in the long run our own

sisters, wives and daughters will be violated without forgiveness.

- Critical position of Cabrera Rodriguez Alejandra:Today this problem has

been increasing not only in Peru but worldwide, violence against women
affectsnegatively affects the well-being of women and prevents their full
participation in society. In addition to having negative consequences for
women, violence also impacts their families, the community, and others.

- Critical position of Gutiérrez Luján Lucero Carolina:Today one of the

biggest problems is violence against women, violence against women
and girls is a serious violation of human rights. Its consequences can be
immediate or far-reaching, including multiple physical, sexual,
psychological and even fatal consequences for this female population.

-
- Critical position of Tello Paredes, Mel Marley:Unfortunately, at present
and in the pre and post pandemic situation, cases of gender violence have
increased in our country. Well, despite being in a current era such as the
21st century, we continue to witness the sad situations that women must
experience on the street, at work and even in their own home.
- Critical position of Ulloa Guevara, Rosa Teresa:Regarding income,
one of the highest forms of violence against women is those who work
within the home. National data indicates that women with low income
may be perceived by their partners as having a lower degree of
autonomy. Such a situation could be considered as a risk factor for men
to resort to violence in order to achieve their submission. This also
shows us the difficulties encountered so far to achieve an equitable
distribution of household responsibilities.
- Critical position of Tirado Mendoza, Jesús David:Violence against women is a
problem that has existed for a long time and what is complicated about this
issue is that most cases are not disclosed, they are not reported for fear of the
victims, this generates various conflicts in society and In children who grow up
with fear or self-esteem problems when seeing conflicts between their parents,
it is advisable to advise women to make their cases known if they suffer from
violence and to follow them up to avoid serious consequences.

v. Proposal of a possible solution to the problem:

Violence against women is a problem for society. The possible

solution proposal that we present through talks providing
information and encouraging women who may suffer from cases of
violence to report or make their case known and thus seek a solution
to avoid serious consequences, it is also necessary to follow up
where there is suspicion of some type of violence to prevent this
problem from fully developing.
SAW. CONCLUSION:

Violence against women can be summarized as any act of gender violence

that can result in some physical, sexual and psychological harm to women,
mainly caused by the consumption of excessive alcohol and addictive
substances.

This academic report has provided us with information about a problem

that is violence against women and how it is affecting Peru.

In conclusion, violence against women and girls is one of the most

widespread violations of human rights in the world. Many cases occur
every day in all corners of the planet. This type of violence has serious
physical, economic and psychological consequences on women and girls,
both in the short and long term.
