c. Motivation (10 mins.)

Blue (name of the dog) wants to go for a ride with his friends but there is
something missing from his motorbike, he wants to find out what it is so that his
motorbike will move, can you help him to find out what is missing.
In order to find out what is missing from Blues motorbike, we have to find the
first clue by following the direction or instruction and connect it all.

Activity 2.
1st instruction: In a piece of paper, plot a point in the center of the paper.
2nd instruction: Using a ruler, plot 10 points anywhere that measures 5 inches.
distance from the center.
3rd instruction: after you plot the points, connect all points together except the
center.

The students who can finish the activity will be given a treat from Blue.

Question:
Based on the activity, what figure is formed?

A. INTERACTION Discussion: (15 mins.)

Based on the first clue, how can you describe a Circle?

- a closed curve, all points of which are equidistant
from a fixed point called the center.
Circles are named
by their centers
using capital
letters. The circle
on the right is
called circle O.

example:

Lines related to circle:

1.A radius is a segment whose one endpoint is in the

center of the circle and the other endpoint is any point on
the circle.
__
OJ is a radius of
circle O.
___
OM is also a radius
of circle O. All
radii of a circle are
equal in measure.

example:

2. A chord is a segment whose endpoints are any of two

different points in the circle.
___
JK is a chord of
circle O.
___
MN is also a chord
of circle O.

example:

__
JL is a diameter of
circle O.
___
MP is also a
diameter of circle
O.
3. A diameter is a chord which passes through the center
of the circle. It passes through the center of a circle. It is All diameters of a
twice the length of a radius. circle have equal
measures.

example:

line AC is a secant
of a circle O.

example:

line XY is a
tangent of circle O
whose point of
4. A secant is a line that contains a chord. tangency is at
point E.
5. A tangent is a line in the plane of a circle that intersects
the circle at exactly one point. This point is called the
point of tangency.

B. INTEGRATION Activity! (15mins)

The class will be divided into 10 groups, group 1-3 will be given the same
instruction but different questions, group 4-7 , and group 8-10 also. Group 1-3
will identify what part of the circle is the given, group 4-7 will have to illustrate
by drawing a point or line depending on the given task on the circle and group
8-10 give an example of a real-world situation where the circle is used. Each
group should have one representative to share their answers.

Group 1-3. Identify the parts of the circle.

___________________1. O
___________________2. line segment MT
____________________3. line segment PR
___________________ 4. line segment OM
___________________ 5. line QT

Group 4-7. Draw your own circle inside the box and illustrate the following.
1. chord QR
2. center A
3. diameter DE
4. radius AC
5. tangent OB

Group 8-10. Give 5 examples of a real world situation where circle is used.

Generalization (3mins)
Based on your activity, can you guess now what thing is missing from Blues
motorbike, wherein it is circle in shape?

So, you already know the parts or the terms related to the circle. Can you
identify again the parts of a circle that we've discussed today?
III. EVALUATION (5 mins)
Choose the letter with the correct answer. Write your answer on a separate sheet
of paper.

point. What do you call this point?
A. arc B. center C. circle D. semicircle

For numbers 2&3, refer to the illustration on the right.

2. Which of the following is the name of the circle?
A. circle X B. circle Y C. circle B D. circle P
3. Which of the following is NOT a radius?

B. E
C. FD. X
5. Which of the following is a tangent line?
A. DE
B. DF
C. EF
D. all of the above
IV. Assignment (2mins)
Study in advance about the central angle, inscribed angle, and arcs of a circle.
Life-long Learning How can you relate the topic to real-life situations? How significant is circle
to our everyday life?

Circle is frequently used by architecture to create something that can be in

our daily lives just like a clock, plates, coins etc. without a circle, we no
longer have transportation wherein it makes us go wherever we want easily
and without its parts. Imagine when a wheel without radii on its circle, could
the wheel or the transportation hold a person? no, it's not since it could be
destroyed. Another, in sports like volleyball, basketball do you think that if
the ball is not perfectly in shape it could bounce? No and never because
other shapes have their edges, corners. And also, in archers as you can see
there's a radius or diameter to its target board that is because for it can
measure the distance of the opponent target.
