TRAINING PROPOSAL

TITLE : Training on Organic Chicken Production with


Extension Support

I. RATIONALE

Chicken is one of the top contributor to the GDP of the country and is ranked as the 3 rd
agriculture commodity in the Philippines. According to Philippines Statics Authority (PSA) as
of July 1, 2018, the total chicken inventory in the country has increased by 0.26%. Free range
chicken is also a trending business and a good kick start in agriculture. It also fits the
advocacy of the government to promote production of more meat and eggs that are safe and
healthy. It is a production system wherein the birds are raised in a stress-free environment
and are allowed constant access to outdoors for natural diet of grains, forages, and insects.
Further, this provides plenty of fresh air and sunlight.

II. General objectives

The training aims to provide the participants essential knowledge and skills on
organic chicken production.

Special OBJECTIVES

At the end of the 3-day training, the participants shall be able to:
 Identify different breeds of chicken and stock selection;
 Describe the housing design and requirements;
 Discuss the different types of feeds and feeding management;
 Demonstrate how to layout and plant forages;

 Discuss the breeding system of free range chicken;


 Demonstrate the different life stages of chicken;
 Apply the proper animal health care program; and
 Install housing/ net fencing.
III. Mechanics
Prior to the training, attendance should be filled up by 8:00 a.m., and the
hall/room should be set up to begin the discussion. Farmers are encouraged to
absorb the information in the topic, as well as the language that will be used
during the discussion (Tagalog and local dialect) in order for the farmers to easily
understand the topics.

IV. OUTPUT

The participants are expected to formulate organic feeds for chicken and install
housing/net fencing in their respective places.

 Resource Persons

The resource persons will be the technical experts in the University of Eastern
Philippines.
