I. Rationale

The Department of Health issued a memorandum on the Integrated Delivery of TB Services

Phase 2 (iDOTS Phase 2) in 2021. The rationale for this memorandum is to improve the
accessibility and quality of TB services in the Philippines, especially for Drug-Resistant TB
cases. According to the memorandum: the iDOTS Phase 2 aims to shift drug-resistant TB
services from PMDT satellite treatment centers to the various Rural Health Units (RHU) to
improve the accessibility of TB services in the Province of Leyte. It also aims to expand the
benefit to cover other TB cases that are sensitive to first line anti-TB drugs and to align the
TB DOTS Package with the current policies and guidelines for TB control and to strengthen
the financial mechanism as leverage for better performance of providers leading to desired
health outcomes and sustained TB control.

II. Objectives

1. To capacitate the mentees to deliver quality PMDT services in the whole spectrum of
care for DR-TB.
2. To identify the learning needs of the mentees based on the mutually agreed self-
assessment of the mentees and mentors.
3. To assess the progress of the mentees in terms of knowledge and skills applied
throughout the continuum of care.
