Nutrition and hydration  Encouraged the mother to breastfeed the patient
every 2 to 4 hours to help speed up their recovery.
Adequate milk supply for the baby may help boost
the immune system. Breast milk contains
antibodies that can help the infant fight off
infection.
 Advised the mother to keep the infant upright after
feedings to help prevent reflux and aspiration,
which can exacerbate respiratory symptoms.
 Instructed the mother to monitor the infant's
feeding patterns and output, including the number
of wet and soiled diapers per day. This will help to
ensure that the infant is getting enough breast milk
and staying hydrated.

Medication/ Treatment Management  Ensured that the parents or caregivers understand

the importance of completing the full course of
antibiotics prescribed by the pediatrician.
 Educated them about possible side effects and the
need to seek medical attention if they develop any
adverse reactions.
 Provided the parents with written instructions for
the medications prescribed, including the
medication name, dosage, frequency, and any
special instructions. Encouraged them to keep a
medication log to help them keep track of the
medication schedule and dosage.
Preventing future infections  Educated the parents on ways to prevent future
episodes of pneumonia, such as getting vaccinated
against influenza and pneumococcal infections,
maintaining good hygiene, and avoiding exposure
to smoke and other pollutants
Rest and recovery  Encouraged the parents to keep the baby's living
environment calm, comfortable, clean and free
from irritants such as tobacco smoke, dust, and
pets to promote optimal healing. Advised them to
limit the baby's exposure to crowded areas or
people who are sick to prevent re-infection
Follow-up care  Instructed the parents to schedule a follow-up
appointment with the pediatrician to monitor the
baby's recovery and ensure that the pneumonia
has resolved completely.
 Advised the parents when to seek medical
attention if the baby's condition worsens, such as if
they develop the ff:
✓ High fever
✓ Severe cough
✓ Difficulty breathing
 Provided with a contact number to call in case of
any concerns or worsening of symptoms.
