Memoir Common Assessment Task

Student Name: Ian Okot

This COMMON ASSESSMENT TASK will be used to measure your achievement against the skills and understandings that
we studied during this learning sequence.

You are required to complete each part of this assessment, and finish within the 3 periods allocated.

You need to work through the assessment from beginning to end, using the scaffolds and instructions included within
each part of the task.

Use your rubric and feedback from your teacher to guide you from one part of the assessment to the next.

Complete the thinking document by hand first.

Once you start typing your piece, make sure you read over each paragraph, looking for better words and deleting
unrelated ideas. Once you have finished, edit your writing by fixing up the grammar, punctuation and spelling as best you
can.

This is an independent task but you may ask questions to clarify the requirements of the task. Remember that your
teacher will NOT do the work for you; he/she will help you with the thinking you need to employ to complete the work.

Remember to organise your time appropriately so you can complete as much of the assessment task as possible in the
time given.

You are permitted to use the following resources during the Common Assessment Task:
 Computer
 Your Writer’s Notebook
 A completed ‘Thinking Document’
 Dictionary
 A Reviewing and Editing Checklist

During the Common Assessment Task period, the conditions you will work under will be:
 Individual and silent work
 All work to be carried out during class
 Conferencing with the teacher

Hoop Time!

It was the day I was waiting for a day I was ready to play basketball and expectedly a day to have fun, It was Hoop
Time. At my primary school we got invited to a basketball event and when I heard about it, I was very excited, and
my friend were to. Me and my friends Tadhg, Nathaniel, Stefan, Blaze, William, Aideen, and Damon were put in a
team as the all-star boys because my teacher knew we were the best players and we all decided on what position
we were going to be in. I was a point guard, and my friends were others we all got ready and we practiced
everyday during the lunch breaks we had till it was time.

Finally, it was Hoop Time and my school went to Dandenong stadium which also was a stadium but friend Tadhg
played a club for called Dandy Ranger.
