The pie charts give us information about the proportion of the main reasons for migration to

and from the UK in 2007.

Overall, there were significant differences between immigration and emigration. At 30% and
29%, respectively, immigrants and migrants accounted for the biggest percentage of definite job
reasons. However, the reason for the smallest proportion of immigration was no reason stated,
whereas the reason for the smallest percentage of emigration was a formal study reason.

As previously said, the pie chart demonstrates that the reason for the greatest number of
sections in the two charts was a definite job reason. However, the reason for the smallest
proportion on the emigration chart was that it is the second highest on the immigrant chart, with
more than a fourth citing formal study reasons. The reason for the smallest proportion on the
immigration chart, on the other hand, is the cause of the third highest percentage on the
emigration chart, at 18%. In turn, the remaining causes, such as looking for work,
accompanying/joining and other factors, account for around the same high percentage in both
figures.
