The pie charts compare the percentages of immigrants and emigrants to and from Britain due
to 6 major reasons in 2007.
Overall, a majority of reasons why people migrated was relating to career such as job offers, or
labor policies .Another noticeable point is that while a large proportion people came to the UK
for study, only a marginal number of British students chose study oversea.
Looking at the details, as regards immigration, nearly a third of respondents said that they
settled down in Britain because of job requirements. A slightly lower rate, 26% is foreigner
students who enrolled in British schools, followed by the group of marriage or family union, job
seekers, and others at 15%, 12%, and 11% respectively. The lowest proportion belonged to
people who was uncertain or did not take part in the survey.
Regarding emigration, similarly, the most popular reason was career pursuing, at 29%. Coming
next was people who looking for job in Britain at 22%. Unfortunately, a large proportion of
participants did not give a certain response. Accompany/join and other reason accounted for a
significant percentage, at 13% and 14% in turn. Only 4% of British interested in education
outside the UK in that year.
