Microwaves

Microwaves are basically extremely high frequency radio waves. They have very short
wavelengths ranging from approximately 1 millimeter (as thick as a pencil lead to 30
centimeters. They can be found between very high frequency infrared) waves and
conventional radio waves. Microwaves are made by various types of transmitters A
transmitter is an electronic device, which with the aid of an antenna produces radio
waves.
Microwaves are used in telecommunication such as mobile phones.
As microwaves can be generated by a small antenna, mobile
phones are created small and handy. They are also used by fixed
traffic speed cameras, in cooking food, and in radar (radio detecting
and ranging) to determine the range, altitude, direction, or speed of
both moving and fixed objects such as aircraft, ships, spacecraft,
missiles, motor vehicles, and weather formations. Microwave
radiation is also used in electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR or
ESR) spectroscopy.
