Respected board of judges, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant

evening to you all.

Contrary to what the affirmative side wishes to impress upon everyone this
evening, This House strongly believes that Social Media accounts be registered
in the Philippines as a Crime Prevention Measure IS NOT BENEFICIAL
This is not beneficial, but rather detrimental to all social media users due to the fact that
it will breach on the privacy of those who will be affected by this proposal.
It is not beneficial to the users but will be even more harmful, because who wants
to scroll through social media while being watched by the authorities? And there are
many other times where our social media are linked or related to our financial
information, especially in business take for example In May 2018, according to NPC a
leak in the Wendy's Philippines resulted in the 88,000 records of customers and job
applicants being compromised, including names, addresses, passwords, payment
method and transaction details.

. Nothing is sure about containing or keeping data, even the big companies with
great databases and advisors are having breaches, what if all the social media accounts
of Filipinos are collected and based as a crime prevention measure, just a mistake in
processing and compiling the account, someone innocent may be charged.
Republic Act No. 10173, otherwise known as the Data Privacy Act of 2012, seeks
to protect all forms of information, be it private, personal, or sensitive, and is meant to
cover both natural and juridical persons involved in the processing of personal
information. The 1987 Constitution tries to provide provisions with regards to right to
privacy under the Bill of Rights SECTIONS A and B; which protects people from
unreasonable searches and seizures, as well as the right to privacy in communication
and correspondence.
The proposal tonight aims to prevent crimes by requiring the registration of social media
accounts, but making it mandatory even if there is a conflicting law would be a violation
and an additional burden for the regulatory bodies.
It is not beneficial to the Community as well as in the major law enforcement
agencies for Not all crimes are reported and observed on social media. What good can
social media registration do if the main threats to safety, peace, and order in the
community are not always present on social media? Nothing, right? We will only
exhaust ourselves while gaining nothing. This supports the statement of the Philippine
National Police (PNP) that Since the beginning of President Ferdinand "Bongbong"
Marcos Jr.'s administration, the most common crimes have been theft, rape, and
physical injury.
On January 20, 2023, PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. stated that these three
focus crimes were the most frequently recorded.
These proves why registering social media accounts as a crime prevention
measure is not beneficial.
Therefore, This House strongly believes that Social Media accounts be registered in
the Philippines as a Crime Prevention Measure IS NOT BENEFICIAL to all Social
media users in the Philippine Territory,to the Community and Major Law
Enforcement Agencies.
