The Language Testing and Assessment course is expected to contribute to the learning outcomes as follows:

2. Students are able to demonstrate their understanding of the approaches to assessment, including identifying the one(s) used in the revised
2013 curriculum for English subjects in formal schools and/or in the curriculum implemented in their English teaching contexts.
3. Students are able to discuss current issues on assessment in ELT based on the assigned journal articles and/or other relevant sources.
4. Students are able to describe language teaching from the view of formative and summative assessment.
5. Students are able to discuss the use of portfolio assessment to craft quality teaching.
6. Students are able to identify challenges facing Indonesian EFL teachers in their assessment practices.
7. Students are able to explain practical applications of assessment theories for ELT teachers.
8. Students are able to plan for a teacher-based assessment/formative assessment in ELT.
9. Students are able to design a portfolio assessment in ELT.
10. Students are able to complete a portfolio as part of the course’ assessment methods.
11. Students are able to practice the following character virtues: inspiratif (inspiring), humanist (humanistic), peduli (caring), inovatif
(innovative), kreatif (creative), sportif (sportsmanship), jujur (honest), and adil (fair).

VI. COURSE DESCRIPTION:


This subject explores the basic concepts of assessment in ELT, the approaches to assessment, current issues on assessment in ELT based on
the assigned journal articles and/or other relevant sources, theories of formative and summative assessment, challenges facing English
language teachers in their assessment practices, and practical applications of assessment theories for ELT teachers. Students are also required
to plan for a teacher-based assessment/formative assessment in ELT and design a portfolio assessment in ELT. Portfolio assessment is used as
a method to evaluate students’ mastery of the target knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

Evaluation Criteria: 1. Assessment uses Norma Reference Assessment, namely an assessment based on competency
achievement by referring to the average achievement of the study group/class;
2. Attendance of at least 80% (to be able to take the exam)

- 80-100: actively involved in Class activities and make a significant contribution to Learning; demonstrate
mastery of the material accompanied by relevant additional resources/knowledge
- 60-79: actively involved in Class activities and make a positive contribution to Learning; demonstrate
mastery of the material without being accompanied by additional relevant sources/knowledge;
- 40-59: actively involved in Class activities and make a sufficient contribution to Learning; demonstrate
sufficient understanding of material;
- 20-39: not actively involved in class activities and does not make a positive contribution to learning; show
weak mastery of the material;
- 0-19: not actively involved and does not show effort in mastering the material/minimum competence.

exam (opened evidence and refers to authoritative sources with critical analysis;

with a data error rate of less than 40%;
C 40-59: responded to the test with a large number of (40-50%) data errors; D 20-39: responds to test with very
large data errors (50-60%);
E 0-19: respond to exam questions with predominant errors (more than 60%).
