ACTIVITY NO.

NAME: GAANO REVIE S. DATE: 03-06-21

SUBJECT & SCHEDULE: 3-4:30 TTH SCORE:

1. Outstanding political leaders are frequently called upon to make high-stakes

decisions, because of the controversial and highly visible nature of these issues, they
often face intense criticism. Leaders’ responses to criticisms not only affect follower
reactions, but also the successful resolution of the contested issue. Thus, discuss the
following:

a. How should a leader react to different type of criticisms? Enumerate and discuss
three (3) strategies.

 Leaders provoke many types of reactions in others although these

reactions may vary widely from strong approval to strong disapproval,
reactions to leader performance are often extremely visible given the speed
of communication in today’s world especially via media outlets.
 Leaders are positive for instance when a leader seeks to empower those
around him or her. Leaders who empower others may have a socialized
power orientation using their position to benefit others however leaders do
not always use their power to benefit others. A notable exception includes
personalized or destructive leadership.
 Leaders focus their energy on destructive behaviours trying to keep
subordinates weak and dependent upon them, These largely ignored
negative aspects of leadership provide a wealth of information in the
attempt to gain a greater understanding of leadership. For example when a
leader addresses issues in our society that have particularly high stakes he
or she often faces intense criticism.

b. What is the danger of public criticism and the power of social confirmation in

leadership and management?

 Public criticism and people rebelling against social confirmation is the

basis of revolutions and social movements throughout the course of
history. Social confirmation validates worth and extends influence, focus
on strength, overcome the magnetism of negative traits by forcing yourself
to notice what’s good about the people around you. Social confirmation is
giving respect while others are watching. Don’t tear others down to build
yourself up.

2. Enumerate and discuss five (5) coping mechanisms for the different challenges of

leadership and management.

EXTERNAL CHALLENGES

 Public criticism, especially uninformed criticism, of your group or mission.

 Disasters-These are different from crises in that in a crisis, something
important seems to be happening, and you're trying to control the
situation. In a disaster the worst has already happened, and you're trying
to deal with that in some way.
 Opposition and or hostility from powerful forces business groups, local
government and an influential organization.
 A financial or political windfall. Sometimes an unexpected benefit can be
harder to handle than a calamity.
 . Collaboration with another group or organization may call upon a leader
to define clearly the boundaries within which he can operate, and to
balance the needs of his own group with those of the collaborative
initiative as a whole.

INTERNAL CHALLENGES

 Insecurity-Many people feel, at least some of the time, that they're not up to
the tasks they face. They may even believe that they're fooling people with
their air of competence, when they know they're really not very capable at
all
 Defensiveness- Also born of insecurity, defensiveness shows up most
often as an inability to take criticism and continuing hostility to anyone,
even an ally, who voices it. Defensiveness often also includes a stubborn
resistance to change ideas, plans, or assumptions, even if they've been
shown to be ineffective.
 . Lack of decisiveness- Sometimes it's hard to make a decision. You never
know till later -and sometimes not even then - whether you made the right
decision. Maybe if you had a few more facts... The reality is that leaders are
called on to make decisions all the time, often with very little time to
consider them.
 Inability to be direct when there's a problem. Many people want so badly to
be liked, or are so afraid of hurting others, that they find it difficult to say
anything negative.
 Impatience - with others and with situations. It may seem, given the
importance of decisiveness and firmness, that patience is not a virtue a
leader needs. In fact, it is perhaps the most important trait to develop.
3. In your own observation, what is the biggest challenge being faced by leaders today
and how it should be addressed?

 Leading and managing change effectively- This is a fairly global challenge

of all change efforts fail! But it doesn’t have to be this way. Particularly
mid-level managers can have a big influence on whether change is
implemented effectively. This is why developing leadership skills and
confidence within the mid-level management at organizations is so critical.

ACTIVITY NO. 6

1. Critique and assess the current administration on how they handle issues and
concerns of our country in general. Discuss further the challenges faced by our leaders
and how are they responding to it.

 INTRODUCTION:

The war on drugs campaign implemented by the current administration is

undeniably working but it is not sufficient to get rid all the drug users in the
Philippines. As a matter of fact, it will take years or possibly even a longer
span of time in succeeding if maintain in its very slow phase. The PNP is far
excellence and incapable of suppressing criminality in our country caused by
illegal substance which are triggered by poor leadership, illegitimate act and
undisciplined officials. As a leader of our country they do everything to solve
the issues and concerns of our country such as giving financial assistance to
poor family and by giving free education and protection of every Filipino’s
and implementing rules in order to prevent the spread of virus and also the
drug users.

BODY:

Poor leadership among the top rank officials causes a slower rate in achieving
the success of this anti-drug campaign. The leading problem is that they are the
first one who disobeys rule and regulation of the Philippine constitution which
they should follow in the first place.as a result they were unable to exemplify
what it means to be an honest and true leader. Those who are in higher position
are easily blinded by money and fame which leads them to getting involve in
corruption and illegal activities. The president determined the issues and
concerns of our country and by determining the problem, he could know where
to start on how to solve the problem his priorities as of now are fighting the
spread of virus, crime and corruption, real and rapid improvements in the lives of
Filipinos, the affordability of college education, poverty and drug addiction, This
is one of the biggest challenges faced by our leaders and how are they
responding to it that’s why the president already implemented the RA.10931 by
providing for free education in state and local universities and colleges and
technical vocational institutions. And also the DSWD which a government agency
mandated to develop, coordinate social protection and poverty reduction
solutions for and with the poor. In relation to drugs issues during the last
administration the human rights of every human was abused, we used our
freedom to do what we want, the criminals continued their wrong ways of selling
and using drugs which many innocents were affected, children was raped, and
killed. But in order for a president as leader of our country he handles this issues
through that he declared that PDEA, PNP and other agencies to conduct buy-bust
operation.

CONCLUSION:

In conclusion this essay focus on the leadership of the current administration on

how they handle issues and concern, leaders should possess good morale,
character, and proper attitude towards situation that may arise. In relation to
education and poverty the leaders handle this issues by giving every Filipino’s a
free education to state and local universities and colleges for the people who
need financial assistant, protection and poverty reduction solutions for the poor.
The leaders do everything to protect the innocence and avoid corruption and a
president also implemented rules to prevent the spread of virus.

ACTIVITY NO. 7

From your critique your paper in Activity No. 6, do the following: 60points

1. SWOT analysis on leadership of the current administration.

 STRENGTH
- On the current administration leaders handle the issues and concern of our country
regarding drug addicts, alcoholics, poverty and corruption. Regarding this issue the
leaders implanted a higher security level. Also curfew hours will be strictly
implemented for further protection. The PDEA and PNP also doing buy-bust
operation to prevent selling of drugs. The DSWD also developed the social
protection and poverty reduction solutions for and with the poor and giving enough
budgets for foods. The president as a leader of our country, he also implement the
RA.10931 by giving free education and financial assistant for the Filipino’s who can’t
afford to go to college.
 WEAKNESSES

- on the current administration corruption is the biggest issues and concern of our
country. Not all government officials can be trusted most of them are corrupt; if there is
budgets they do not disposed all. Also the PDEA, PNP and other agencies some of the
officials are easily blinded by money and fame which leads them getting involved in
corruption and illegal activities instead of giving their best in providing support especially
in giving safety measures, strict ordinance and warning for the protection of the people.

 OPPORTUNITY:

-the number of drugs cases is already in low percentage. The PNP conduct awareness
and prevention program to prevent drug addictions and alcoholic and they provide
support, and to rehabilitate those currently addicted, People will be protected with the
drug addicts because of the rules implanted. The government officials doing their job
well. People continued their study to go to college especially the people who came in
poor family. President declared that he will stop corruption issues in our country.

 THREATS:

- selling of illegal substance in our country is still the issues until now because most of
the PNP official is involved in these illegal activities. All drugs user deserve to die, all
criminals will go to prison. Due to dishonesty and untrusted government officials there
will be discrepancy and corruption on the benefits of the people who are under the
beneficiaries of RA 10931 and DSWD. Not all Filipino’s will be given free education and
financial assistant which based on requirements needed by the DSWD.
