EX.NO: 1 Various Commands To Create Styles In Writer

Aim:
To learn and use various commands to create styles in Libre Office, MS Office and
Open Office Writer.

Software Required:
Libre office 6.2, MS office 2010, Open office 4.1.7
Procedure:
Libre Office, Open Office:
1. Open the appropriate writer.
2. Write down or copy 7- 10 lines into a document.
3. Make any three consecutive lines as bold.
4. Drag and drop the three lines into the styles deck.
5. In the create style dialog box, enter a name for the style and click OK.
6. Save the document with any name.
7. Apply the style to some other document.

MS Office:
1. Open the MS word 2010.
2. Write down or copy 7- 10 lines into a document.
3. Click the styles dialog box launcher arrow in the bottom right corner of the styles
group.
4. Select the new style button at the bottom of the task pane.
5. The Create new style from formatting dialog box will appear.
6. Enter the name for the style and set the text formatting.
7. Click ok and the new style will appear in the styles task pane.

EX.NO: 2 Applying Styles Using Fill Format mode

Aim:
To learn the steps to apply fill format mode to many areas quickly in Libre Office and
Open Office Writer.

Software Required:
Libre office 6.2, Open office 4.1.7
Procedure:
Libre Office:
1. Open the appropriate writer.
2. Write down or copy 10- 30 lines into a document.
3. Open the styles deck and select a style.
4. Click on the Fill Format Mode icon.
5. To apply a paragraph, page, or frame style, hover the mouse over the paragraph, page
or frame and click.
6. To apply a character style, hold down the mouse button while selecting the characters.
Clicking on a word applies the character style to that word.
7. Repeat step 5 and 6 until we have made all the changes for that style.
8. To quit fill format mode, click on the icon again or press the Esc key.

Procedure:
Open Office:
1. Open the appropriate writer.
2. Write down or copy 10- 30 lines into a document.
3. In the Styles and formatting window, select the style that should be applied by clicking
it once.
4. At the top of the Styles and formatting window, click on the Fill format mode icon.
5. Click once on every paragraph in the text to which to apply the selected style.
6. To quit fill format mode, click on the icon again or press the Esc key.

Result:
Thus I have learnt the steps to apply fill format mode to many areas quickly in Libre
Office and Open Office Writer.

EX.NO: 3 Updating Styles

Aim:
To learn the steps to update the styles in Libre Office and Open Office Writer.

Software Required:
Libre office 6.2, Open office 4.1.7
Procedure:
1. Open the appropriate writer.
2. Write down or copy 10- 30 lines into a document.
3. Edit all the properties we want to alter in the style.
4. Select the paragraph by clicking anywhere in the paragraph
5. In the styles deck/styles and formatting window, select the style we want to update.
6. Then click on the New style from selection icon and select update style.

Result:
Thus I have learnt the steps to update styles in Libre Office and Open Office Writer.

EX.NO: 4 Creating a Template

Aim:
To learn the steps to create a document by using Template in Libre Office, MS Office
and Open Office Writer.

Software Required:
Libre office 6.2, MS office 2010, Open office 4.1.7
Procedure:
Libre Office:
1. From the menu bar, choose File > New > Templates, or click on the small arrow next
to the new icon on the standard toolbar and select templates.
2. From the filters list at the top of the templates dialog, optionally select a category.
3. Find and double –click on the required template.

1. Click the File tab.
2. Select New.
3. Click the sample templates. Select any one of the template.
4. The preview of selected template will appear.
5. Select Template option and click create.

1. Open a document
2. Click on File > Templates > save option
3. In the template dialog box, select the category into which to save the template
4. In the new template text field, enter the name for the template.
5. Click on OK to complete the process.
