Following is given a case study explaining the prospective role of
sociologists, read it carefully and identify any TEN CAREERS for sociology students in
future in the given Format.

University of Multan has organized an orientation session for BS students who wanted to
OPT sociology as an undergraduate program. Different professors and head of the
department gave the brief introduction about the university and department. Head of the
department Ms. ABC discussed about the scope of sociology to enhance the student’s
interest. She said that the Pakistani society has become prone to diversified social problems
for which social scientists are coming up with appropriate scientific skills to address the
social pathologies being a social researcher, the academician and social worker. There is a
dire need of such skilled social scientists / sociologists to fill in the vacuum of society and to
come up with the social policies to address the contemporary problems. It is well
established fact that after completion of Sociology degree the graduates can participate in
nation building activities. The graduates of Sociology are actively involved in development
activities in various roles i.e. social mobilize, rural development officer, and population
planning officer, rural health planner, environmental analyst and community development
officer. The training imparted in the academic departments enable the students to
contribute effectively in prison and correctional services as parole officer, rehabilitation
counselor and probation officer.
Moreover, Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) and Federal Public Service
commission (FPSC) periodically invites applications from the graduates for the positions of
social welfare officers, monitoring and evaluation officer, demographer as well as lecturers
for appointments across province and country. At the end of orientation session, Ms. ABC
wished a good luck to all new students and encourages them to actively participate in all
activities of the semester.

Solution

The role of potential sociologists is a perspective on human behavior and its relationship to
society as a whole. It invites us to find connections between the behavior of individual people
and the structures of society in which they live.

Ten careers for sociology students in future are following.

`Ikhlas` means to dedicate one's heart to Allah. A sincere person has a deep fear of Allah, has
deep faith in Him, sees goodness in its best form and supports it. A sincere person is one who
believes in Allah, the hereafter, the prophets, heaven and hell, and the angels. Following are
methods through which we are able to increase sincerity in our worship and actions.

By telling the truth

In Islam, truthfulness is said to be external with internal, action with intention, speech with belief
and action with preaching. Thus, truthfulness is the cornerstone of a true Muslim's character and
the foundation of his righteous deeds Just believe with your true heart that Allah is with you, and
leave your worries to Him, talk to Him with your true heart and your heart will be at peace. So
we can gain sincerity by speaking the truth.

Pure intention

Our attention should always be directed towards the true aim or purpose of our every action. The
secret of pure intention is not to renounce all gain for oneself. Our intentions are pure when we
recognize our benefit to the glory of God, and see that our joy is in doing His will because His
will is right and good. To purify our intentions, we don't abandon all thought of finding our own
good, we only look for it where it can really be found: in a good that transcends ourselves.
Always Hide your Deeds.

Keep your good deeds between yourself and Allah. Don't show them in public to win praise. He
knows what is in your heart. Always keep your good deeds between you and Allah almighty. .

Stay away from compliments

There is no doubt that praise can hurt the praise, especially if the praise is about a religious
matter and the person being praised is weak and the praise tends to be arrogant. This is the
reason why Islamic texts forbid praising in the presence of someone who might be affected by it.
We should always try to love people but we should never be arrogant. Always remind yourself
that it is all from Allah. Our grades in this world do not raise our grades in the sight of Allah

Develop commitment and dedication.

One of the signs and symptoms of sincerity is the exercise of strong willpower. This degree of
willpower can vary and differ from one person to another. An individual may intend to offer
general charity if wealth is given, but the latter will be less decisive and waver. On the contrary,
every other person can maintain a strong clear-up because of their determined sincerity. With the
right intention, we are able to commit ourselves to doing a good deed, reaping its benefits, and
doing such commendable work in the long run.
