What is Vocabulary?
Vocabulary is key to English language learning for
without it, it would be difficult for anyone to convey
ideas or to understand other people.
Vocabulary is all about words — the words in a
language or a special set of words you are trying to
learn.
What is Vocabulary?
A list of target language words (Nunan, 2000), a set
of lexeme comprising “single words, compound
words and word idioms” (Richards and Schmidt,
2002), synonymous to lexis and lexicon (Jackson and
Amvela, 2000).

Nation (2001) in Tomlinson (2013) laid down the
aspects (form, meaning and use), components,
(spoken, written, word parts, form and meaning
connection, concepts, and referents, association,
grammatical functions, collocations and constraints
on use) and learning activities in the teaching of
vocabulary.
