Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies

I. Introduction
Massage therapists must complete a reputable training
program in order to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to
provide safe and effective treatment. They must also consider their
standard of conduct in relation to their co-workers, clients, and the
general public.
Clients' trust and an excellent reputation are built on a high
standard of professional conduct, which is the foundation for
success.
These learning activity sheets will help you identify the different
characteristics / traits of a successful entrepreneur.

2. Determine the characteristics of an entrepreneur under
Achievement, Planning and Power Cluster
3. Value the importance of each characteristic

PERSONAL ENTREPRENEURIAL COMPETENCIES
- It refers to the qualities that a successful entrepreneur should possess.
There are various Entrepreneurial traits that a successful entrepreneur
should possess; however there are ten that appear most regularly.
1. Organizing Ability 6. Demand for efficiency and quality
2. Problem Solver 7. Systematic
3. Opportunity Seeker 8. Persistence and Patience
4. Healthy and Enthusiastic 9. Technical knowledge
5. Human relation Ability 10. Sense of independence and self
confidence
PECs are Classified into Clusters
An entrepreneur should possess three clusters of personal entrepreneurial
competencies (PEC). A person's underlying characteristics make up their
entrepreneurial competency. To excel and stay in business, an individual
must have the following qualities: motivation, skills, self-image, and
knowledge.
A. Achievement Cluster- successfully completed by means of perseverance,
skill, practice, or exertion.
1.Opportunity Seeking – you are not afraid do new things, new ideas and
products.
2. Risk Taking- overcome obstacles and meet challenges.
3. Persistence- identify various alternatives to improve service to customer.
4. Commitment-to keep the customer satisfied with excellent services.
5. Demand for Efficiency and Quality-to do things that meet standards of
excellence.
B. Planning Cluster - is the act of conceiving and organizing one's thoughts the
activities that must be completed in order to achieve a specific goal.
1. Systematic and Good planning- lay out plans carefully
2. Good Decision making- being creative and innovative
3. Goal Setting- Goals should be SMART
4. Information Seeking- seek information from clients, suppliers, and
competitors.
C. Power Cluster - is the ability to influence people's behaviour.
1. Leadership- people who are task oriented and effective planners.
2. Persuasive and good at networking- use strategies to influence and persuade
people.
