4.(a) Explain the process capability index (Cp) and Process performance index (Cpk) 10 L2 CO1

4.(b) A certain bottling industry quality control inspector recorded the weight of 10 L3 CO2
each of 5 bottles selected at random during each hour for 4 – hours in the
morning.

5.(a) Briefly explain binomial and poisons distribution 10 L2 CO1

5.(b) The manufacturer of certain transformers, the units are required to meet a 10 L3 CO2
number of specifications approximately 200 units are produced and
subjected to final inspection daily at the end of 20 working days. 230 units
were rejected out of 4150 units which were inspected.
i. Determine 3σ control limits for p chart based on average daily
production
ii. Only one point falls outside the control limit on that day 30 non
confirming items were found out of 200 units inspected. What aimed

A control chart for defects per unit U uses probability limits of 0.95 and 0.05 10 L3 CO2

b. Minimum number of items inspected for accepting the lot.
c. Minimum number of defective for rejection of the lot.
d. Average number of items inspected when the quality of the lot is p1.
