Title: Insulating Material based on shredded used tires and
inexpensive polymers for different roofs
Author: F. Zakaria, M. Radwan, M. Sadek, & H. El-Azab
Year Published: 2018
Relation to the study:
This study aims to prepare, design and develop an effective
heat insulation composite for roofs based on shredded
automobile tires and polyurethane. Based on this study, we
can conclude that using polystyrene as our mixing
component to rubber powder will work since polystyrene and
polyurethane are both classes of polymers.

Title: Sound-Absorbing and Thermal-Insulating Properties
of Cement Composite Based on Recycled Rubber from Waste
Tires
Author: Jakub Svoboda, Tomáš Dvorský, Vojtech Václavík,
Jakub Charvát, Kate ˇ rina Má ˇ calová, Silvie Heviánková, Eva
Janurová
Year Published: 2021
Relation to the study:
This study aims to determine whether recycled rubber
granulates can be used in the Cement Composite. The study
also discusses the characteristics of recycled rubber in terms
of its sound-absorption quality capacity, thermal
conductivity, and strength, where the materials also
undergo thermal insulation.

Title: Thermal conductivity of Recycled Tire Rubber to be
used as Insulating Fill Beneath Roadways
Author: J. Zarling & J. Shao
Year Published: n.d
Relation to the study:
The objective of this study is to use tires that is turned into
small particles as insulating fill in roadways to stop the
freeze penetration beneath the roads. This study/literature
can be helpful in our proposed study since it proves that
tires are good thermal conductors.

Title: Crushed Rubber from Used Tires for Thermal
Insulation of Walls and Flat Roofs: Modeling, Validation and
Comparison with Conventional Technology
Author: U. Nascimento, K. Ismail, F. Lino, & C. Nobrega
Year Published: 2o21
Relation to the study:
The purpose of this study is to reduce the increasing waste
of rubber tires. They proposed a solution which involved
using crushed rubber from tires into thermal insulation for
walls and roofs. This study can be helpful to our proposed
study since based on their study, adding layers of crushed
rubber into a flat roof decreased its heat gain by 23.3% thus
proving that crushed rubber is a good thermal conductor.

Title: Ground Tire Rubber Recycling in Applications as
Insulators in Polymeric Compounds, According to Spanish
UNE Standards
Author: Marc Marín-Genescà, Jordi García-Amorós, Ramon
Mujal-Rosas, Lluís Massagués Vidal, Jordi Bordes Arroyo,
Xavier Colom Fajula
Year Published: 2020
Relation to the study:
The study emphasizes Ground Tire Recycling in Applications
as Insulators in Polymeric Compounds which means that
ground tires can be used in different industrial components,
especially in electrical insulations, trays, and pipes cables in
which they can blend in polymetric compounds such as in
Polystyrene.

Title: Study of Usage of Recycled Rubber Crumbs (RRC) for
Production Of Thermal Insulation Panels.
Author: P. Ĉekiü, A. Miloševiü,& B. Cvetanoviü
Year Published: 2011
Relation to the study:
The goal of this study is to test the physical and mechanical
properties of heat conductivity panels made from recycled
rubber crumbs sizes 0.1 to 3mm. In this study, they tested
the breaking strength and the thermal conductivity of the
panels. According to the results of this study, the heat
panels made from the RRC are a good thermal conductor but
not as good as styrofoams. This study can be helpful to us
since we are combining both polystyrene and rubber powder.
