What is PUBERTY?

•Puberty is the stage of development when a person starts to

change from a child to an adult.
When does Puberty happen?

Puberty often begins during adolescence. Puberty typically

begins between the ages of 8 and 13 for girls and 9 and 14 for
boys and can last several years, during which time young
people go through significant physical, emotional, and social
changes.
ALL ABOUT HORMONES

Hormones are chemical substances that

are released into the bloodstream and
travel to other organs and tissues, where
they stimulate growth. Testosterone is
for the men and estrogen and
progesterone are for the female.
HOW LONG DOES PUBERTY LAST?
It lasts about 2 to 5 years. And there's a wide range of what's normal. You may begin
puberty a little earlier or later and finish sooner or later than their friends.

The duration of puberty in girls can vary, but it generally lasts about 2-5 years. It typically
begins with the onset of breast development and ends when a girl reaches physical and
reproductive maturity. The average age of menarche (the onset of menstruation) is
around 12 years old, but it can occur as early as 8 or as late as 15.
WHAT TO DO IF PUBERTY IS
DELAYED?
DELAYED OR EARLY PUBERTY CAN SOMETIMES BE A SIGN OF UNDERLYING
MEDICAL CONDITIONS AND SHOULD BE EVALUATED BY A HEALTHCARE
PROVIDER.

MOST TEENS WITH DELAYED PUBERTY ARE JUST DEVELOPING A BIT LATER
THAN AVERAGE AND WILL CATCH UP.
