THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

Education is free and open for all. As a result, everyone has the right to an education and

to be a student. In our tradition, it is a common practice for all of us to attend school starting at a

young age. That is, education is indeed one of the primary mechanisms in the entire life of a

human wherein it considerably helps individuals build their character, as well as widen their

knowledge about the various things in life. It is also viewed as the key to success, given that

information is a power that that not only gives us benefits for ourselves but also for our

community. Yet, despite the benefits of education, some students opt not to attend class. In this

study, we, the researchers, are assigned to assess the different cases of Senior High School

students regarding their absenteeism.

This research study will serve as an instrument to examine and discuss the various factors

and numerous effects of absenteeism varied impacts of absenteeism on student academic

achievement. This study will be conducted at the Pulong Buhangin National High School, and

the chosen respondents are Senior High School students. The general objective of this research

study is to collect data that will considerably help the Education industry assess the various

factors affecting students' academic performance.

Objective of the Study

1. To find out student-related factors and experiences that affect academic performance.

2. To identify the reason why students are always absent in their school.

School student.

General Objective

To determine the effect of daily absent of Senior High School student.

Specific Objectives

1. To identify the reason why students are always absent in the class.

2. To determine the effect of absenteeism to the Senior High School students in their

academic learning.

Significance of the Study

 Students

It can help them to became a responsible students and also they will learn to give

importance of time management and it can help them to be aware on how to

manage their time.

 Parents

This study will surely help them to become aware of the behavior of their children

for them to be aware of what struggles and problem their children are facing in

academic, also it can help to guide them.

 Teachers

This study will surely help them to kmow the struggles of the students and had

chance to talk to them and be better understand their situation.

This study will surely help them to know what reseach gap they can use of their

study, also they can get them a new ideas from our study and use it as their basis

in their future research study.

Statement of the Problem

The study aims to answer the following questions:

1. What are factors causing absenteeism among the students in Senior High level.

2. Which among the reasons of students absenteeism are more prevalent in Senior

High School.

3. What is the effect of absenteeism on Academic Performance

Scope and Limitations

This study focused on the daily attendance of the students

Among the different sample of the students that may describe the respondents the

present study only include Grade and Section, the reason behind why students are not

coming to the school in time and they are not attending the school classes, and if they

have financial problem.

The respondents of this study consist of 20 Senior High School students that the

researchers will randomly select in Pulong Buhangin National High School of Santa

Maria Bulacan that often to be late in school.

Definition of Terms

 STUDENT BEHAVIOR - Students are expected to conduct themselves in an

appropriate and respectful manner.

 ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE - is the measurement of student achievement

across various academic subject.

 KNOWLEDGE - the range of one's information or understanding.

 VARIOUS - Various means “of different kinds” or “differing one from another.”

 NURTURING - care for and encourage the growth or development of.

 EDUCATION INDUSTRY - establishments that provide instruction and training

in a wide variety of subjects.

 BROAD UNDERSTANDING - Having a wide range of knowledge in the general

sense, not limiting to the narrow profession or area of study.

 SCHOOL CLIMATE - is based on patterns of students', parents' and school

personnel's experience of school life and reflects norms, goals, values,

interpersonal relationships, teaching and learning practices, and organizational

structures.
