1. Are you happy with how your society defines beauty?
Based on what I am experiencing today, I'm upset about what society tells us.
Having been told by society to follow a certain standard with regards to how to
define beauty seems negative to me. Setting up standards or stereotypes have
been evident nowadays. However, I am grateful and glad that little by little, our
generation has become more aware towards body positivity. Most of us have
started accepting our true selves and everyone around us which helped us gain
confidence and be proud of the beauty planted within us.
2. Have you ever been body shamed? How did it make you feel and how did you
handle it?
I am saddened by the fact that I am not the only one who experienced body
shaming. From my experience, it didn't really matter to me at first until I grew
older. I was hurt and affected by the negative words I received. It made my self-
esteem and confidence lower and I feel like becoming less of a person. Despite
the fact that I have been in a dark situation, I used my weaknesses as my strength
and still managed to stand up and served as a light for others.
3. How would you help other people suffering from body image disturbance
embrace their physical selves.
From my perspective, I feel like accepting and embracing my flaws is
harder than transforming into some other "perfect-looking" person. But,
I want this to be an eye opener for everyone to go through this big step
which can change their lives for the better. Based on my experience, it
helped me regain my confidence and I stood up high from my weaknesses.
This also gave me an opportunity to stand for others and wholeheartedly
support them with the beauty they have. I will give my utmost support in
helping them overcome their insecurities and acknowledge their true
beauty 一 their self defined beauty and not by society's standards. It's
a hard and long process but it's a great start in finding the real
beauty within you.
