Globalization in Business
The term globalization entered the business sphere a few decades ago and has not stopped
growing ever since. With recent trade wars between the United States and China, which imposed
countless tariffs, this a perfect testament to its affect. Even with over 7,200 miles between these
two regions, both countries found a way to impact each other’s markets. Globalization has
undoubtedly reached a point where consumer goods and services are facing very tolerant laws of
cross-border operations.

Importance of Cultural Awareness

Corporate culture is one of the key influencers of employees’ performance levels, motivation,
and workplace atmosphere. Unfortunately, a lot of large organizations lack the necessary cultural
awareness. Some historical examples include corporations such as Best Buy, eBay, and even
Google. Trying to expand to areas where their services are not commonly used cost them
millions of dollars. Choosing to research such patterns and finding an innovative question to
answer here can be another excellent business administration topic.
Growing Role of Technology
Other than globalization, the implementation of technology is probably the only other trend that
has such an aggressive track record. For example, how Amazon was able to enter the market
dominated by eBay and completely overtake it relatively quickly. While they have been in
business since the 90s, it took just a few years for them to become the industry leader based on
their inventions of Prime services such as the next-day delivery. Focus your capstone topic on
technology in business and explore patterns such as the one mentioned above.

Why Countless Start-Ups Fail

Approximately only one-third of all companies that start make it to the 10-year mark of
existence. The list of reasons that cause this is extremely long and includes everything from an
apparent lack of planning to overly zealous expansions. Those who may want to have their own
business one day should certainly research and look into this area. Doing so can help them learn
the ins and outs of starting a new venture and some of the most common mistakes that should be
avoided.

Owning your own Business

Did you become your own boss? Tell us how your idea became a reality. Show us the steps
from the initial stages to the end product and what it took to realize your dream. You can use the
criteria below as a guide to give us an overview.

• Business plan for a new start-up venture, or product

• Marketing plan and associated financials for a new product or service

• Study: evaluating the feasibility of establishing a company with your product/services

Several topics are listed above with brief description, you may choose one
of these or you may choose your own topic. If you are choosing a topic
other than the ones listed below, it must be approved by the Practicum
Placement team. Please email you’re your chosen topic for approval to

Guidelines

 Students must be prepared to start the Capstone Project immediately

after successfully completing all theory courses.

 Students must secure a mentor/advisor who is an industry expert and

willing to assist should the student have any questions. The
mentor/advisor must be willing to review the paper and submit
comments to the Practicum Placement team by email to:

 Minimum of 15 pages, including a cover page. All pages should be

numbered and have a structured format with proper headings.
 Cover page should contain the following:
 Name of project
 Name of student/s
 Name and email address of the Mentor
 Date of Submission

 The project should flow to the reader and must have a conclusion at
the end of the document explaining your findings.

Formatting Guidelines
  Letter page size in portrait orientation
 1 inch top, bottom, and side margins
 11 or 12 pt. font
 Use only black font color.
 Signal new paragraph by either indenting the first line of a new
paragraph or spacing between paragraphs.
 Ensure you properly reference all materials you used for your project
including but not limited to research papers, textbooks, internet
sources etc.

Submission date
Students will have 4 weeks to complete the project, counting Monday to
Friday. For example, if you are given your project on Monday January 04 th,
then your project would be due on Friday January 29 th.
