How will 1080 be applied

 Public Health Services conclude adequate to

safeguard public health and mitigate

reasonable and foreseeable risks to the public

from accidental exposure

 Four water catchments divided into two zones

by water care, to allow for 1080 operation to

take place in one zone (note: the affected

zone is disconnected from the public water

supply), with continued water supply from

zone two where no 1080 operation is applied.

 Only when monitoring of first zone results

detect no 1080 will then be reconnected to the

public water supply.


 After reconnecting zone one will then be able

to disconnect zone two from public water

supply for 1080 operation to take place.

How is the operation to be managed?

 Protocols developed reviewed and approved

by the Auckland Regional Council Public

Health Services - Drinking Water Assessment

Unit and the Medical Officer of Health

 Pre-1080 Application Water Quality Testing

Plan

 Source Isolation and Recharge Plan

 Water Quality Sampling Plan

 Raw Water Source Return to service Plan


How are private water supplies managed? 

 The council addresses any site-specific

requirements with private landowners

 The council offer drinking water supply if there

are continued concerns about drinking water

supply. 

How is the operation to be managed?


(a) A Pre-1080 Application Water Quality
Testing Plan which details a monitoring
plan to establish the pre-application water
quality of the Hunua ranges water supply
reservoirs.
(b) A Source Isolation and Recharge Plan
which outlines the proves for taking reservoirs
out the supply prior to the application of 1080
within a reservoir
catchment.
(c) A Water Quality Sampling Plan which
details the sampling and testing
procedures to be carried out during and after
the operation.
(d) A Raw Water Source Return to Service
Plan which defines the process
protocols and responsibilities to ensure the
safe return to service of the water reservoirs
after the 1080 application.
