BACKGROUND
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian non-governmental organization working in more than
30 countries in the world. It has been operational in Ethiopia supporting refugees and hosting
communities in the fields of WASH, shelter construction, livelihoods, protection.

SCOPE OF THE WORK


Danish Refugee Council (DRC) plans to improve the quantity of water supplied to Dimma Refugee
Settlement in Gambella region. The works involve installation of pumping main and installation of new
surface pumps to increase deliver of water. It is proposed that the surface pumps will operate using a
solar diesel hybrid system. The works includes installation of water tanks and tap stands to ensure the
population has been adequately served. There is recommendation that chlorination is required to ensure
safe water is pumped to the beneficiaries.

The water system is meant to supply a total of 13,000 individuals refugees. The only available water
supply is surface treatment from Akobo river with a planned 220 cubic meter treatment plant capacity
surface pump have already been supplied and installed.
