This form will help you complete a risk assessment for jobs that are only required occasionally or for specific one-off tasks
where the initial judgment is that significant hazards and risks may be present. The tasks will not normally be covered by
other generic or more specific risk assessments already completed.
The methodology will help identify the steps that should be taken when carrying out the work – they will help you identify
an appropriate methodology for the work and a safe system of work.

and Junior Hacksaw. Flux and Wire wool.

This is not an exhaustive list; other hazards may become apparent as you consider the job in hand and its component tasks.

Step 1: Operatives shall make contact with the site office upon arrival, where they shall sign the site
register and undertake the site-specific induction on their initial visit to the site. Operatives shall be
briefed on the content of the Risk Assessments and Method Statements relating to their intended
activities.

Step 2: Operatives shall ensure that they are wearing the correct PPE required on the site, including
safety boots, hi-viz vest/jacket, goggles, gloves and hard hat.
Step 3: Ensure the work area is clear and free from all obstructions.
Step 4: Transport all materials and tools required (see key plant and tools).
Step 5: Operatives shall undertake general user checks to the equipment required to undertake
the operations. Observations shall be made to defects of electrical equipment where checks shall
be made to the sockets of transformers (signs of overheating/damage), plugs (signs of
overheating/damage), wiring (exposed wires) and the equipment casing (signs of
overheating/damage).
Step 6: Toilet - Position the closet bowl and outline the bowl on the floor, also mark on the floor the
position of the brackets where the screw holes shall be placed. The bracket holes shall be drilled
with the Battery/110v drill, then plugged and the brackets shall be then secured with 40mm screws.
Carry out general user checks of the equipment, both hand & power tools.
Step 7: Reposition bowl on the brackets (do not secure at this stage), then place the cistern onto
the rear of the bowl, keeping the system against the wall. Mark the cistern fixing screw holes on the
wall, then remove the cistern. Drill and plug.
Step 8: Place the coupling nut, washer and ring on to the top end of the flush pipe. Insert flush pipe
into flush valve and tighten nut and washer onto flush valve. Fit flush pipe connector to bottom of
the pipe.
Step 9: Reposition cistern onto closet bowl and screw into the wall.

Step 10: Fit outlet connector to waste pipework. The closet will have to be removed from the
brackets to do this.
Step 11: Reposition the closet into position making connections with flush pipe and waste pipe.

Step 12: Screw the closet to the floor brackets.


Step 13: Connect the float-operated valve to pipework.

Step 14: Basin – Position the pedestal with the basin and mark up the fixing positions of the
brackets. Remove the pedestal and basin, then drill and plug.
Step 15: Make the waste and supply connections.

Step 16: Reposition the pedestal and basin, then screw the pedestal and basin to their fixing points.

Step 17: Connect to services.

Step 18: Restore supply of water and test all products and the associated pipework and fittings

Step 19: Make area safe.

Step 20: Report back to the site office once the operation is completed. Inform the site agent of
any remedial works required as a result of the installation.
