Adonis vernalis

The Adonis vernalis is an ornamental and


medicinal plant, but it is poisonous. It is
listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.
The international Latin name of the genus
is derived from the name of the mythical
young man Adonis, who was noted for his
extraordinary beauty. The species name
means "spring" in Latin.
Listera ovata or Neottia
ovata
(Listera ovata or Neottia ovata) is a
plant of the Orchidaceae family. It is one
of the most common orchid plants in
Ukraine.

The protection of this orchid is almost


insufficient. It is listed in the Red Book
of Ukraine. The conservation status of
the species is invaluable.

Anax imperator Leach, 1815 is a
dragonfly of the dragonfly family

species of the Holarctic-Ethiopian-
oriented genus; one of 2 species of
the genus in the fauna of Ukraine.
Hamearis lucina is a species of
insect in the Riodinidae family.It
is found in forest glades and
edges, roadsides, shrubs in
humid places, protective forest
belts.

Papilio machaon is a butterfly of


the Orca family. It is probably
the most famous butterfly in
Ukraine due to its bright color
and large size (wingspan
reaches 8 cm).
Pandion haliaetus
(Pandion haliaetus) is a bird of prey,
the only species of the osprey family
(Pandionidae). It feeds mainly on fish.
When hunting, it flies over the water
and tracks fish that have risen to the
surface, then very quickly descends
and snatches the fish by plunging its
paws into the water. In the absence
of the main food, it can prey on
amphibians, birds, and small
mammals.
Milvus migrans
(Milvus migrans) is a bird of prey of the
hawk family, listed in the Red Data Book
Natural Forest

of Ukraine. It is one of two species of


the genus, which includes 6 subspecies.
The nominal subspecies, Milvus migrans
migrans, is found in Ukraine. In Ukraine,
this species is a breeding, migratory and
partially wintering bird.
