Geography Assignment:

1. Discuss the processes of river transportation.

The river picks up sediment and carries it downstream in different ways.

There are four types of transportation:

Traction - large, heavy pebbles are rolled along the river bed. This is most
common near the source of a river, as here the load is larger.
Saltation - pebbles are bounced along the river bed, most commonly near the
source.
Suspension - lighter sediment is suspended (carried) within the water, most
commonly near the mouth of the river.
Solution - the transport of dissolved chemicals. This varies along the river
depending on the presence of soluble rocks.
2. Discuss the land form produced by the wind erosion.
In the arid environment, the wind is the most important geomorphic force. The
wind blows faster in arid regions, causing erosional and depositional activities
in the desert environment. Those landforms that are formed as a result of the
wind’s erosional and depositional actions are referred to as Aeolian
Landforms.
Aeolian landforms are features produced by either the erosive or constructive
action of the wind. These features may be built up from sand or snow, or
eroded into rock, snow, or ice. Aeolian landforms are commonly observed in
sandy deserts and on frozen lakes or sea ice and have been observed and
studied across Earth and on other planets, including Mars and Pluto
3. Discuss the land produced by wave erosion.
Wave Erosion
Wave energy does the work of erosion at the shore. Waves approach the shore
at some angle so the inshore part of the wave reaches shallow water sooner
than the part that is further out. The shallow part of the wave "feels" the bottom
first. This slows down the inshore part of the wave and makes the wave "bend."
This bending is called refraction.

Wave refraction either concentrates wave energy or disperses it. In quiet water
areas, such as bays, wave energy is dispersed, so sand is deposited. Areas that
stick out into the water are eroded by the strong wave energy that concentrates
its power on the wave-cut cliff.
The wave-cut platform is also known as the Abrasion Platform. As mentioned
they are landforms that are formed when the sea hits the weaker areas of a cliff.
Eventually, a cut or a trail is formed due to the erosion process. This is
generally called a notch and gradually this notch enlarges and becomes cave
