your employer. A Certificate of Sponsorship is an electronic certificate that confirms your
job offer and your employer’s sponsor licence number.

Certificate of Sponsorship through the UKVI website or Sponsorship Management
System (SMS).

Check the format of the CoS – there is a specified format of a certificate of

sponsorship and it can be useful to check if the document you have received is in
 the right format.
Check for consistency of information for example your personal information, data
about your work category, salary etc.
Check the sponsor’s information for example is the sponsor listed on the sponsor
licence register.

Once your employer applies for a Certificate of Sponsorship, UKVI generally

approves it within a day and it appears in your employer’s SMS account, except if
UKVI feels the need to verify certain details shared by the employer then this 24-
hours may be extended.
Make a clear note that only your UK employer can assign the Certificate of
Sponsorship to you and then you can access the details to fill your Visa application.
