Prologue:
In the winding streets of Verona, a city
enshrouded in a bitter feud between two noble
houses, the Montagues and the Capulets, a tale of
star-crossed lovers unfolds. Romeo, a Montague, and
Juliet, a Capulet, fall deeply in love, despite the
societal pressures and familial obligations that seek to
keep them apart. Their passion for each other burns
brightly and fervently, as they navigate the dangerous
waters of their clandestine romance. However, as
tensions between their families escalate, their love is
put to the ultimate test, leading to a heart-
wrenching and tragic conclusion. The story of Romeo

Dialogue Author’s Notes
Lord Montague: (Laughs) Those Capulet’s really (Intro Music)
thought they could beat us this year. No matter how
hard they try, they can never surpass us when it
comes to the art of horse riding.
Lady Montague: Exactly! Even in the royal court
they can never receive the appreciation of the
Queen.
Lord Montague: Let them dwell in the sorrow of (Thrill Music)
their defeat and lose face in front of the Queen.
Lady and Lord Montague: (Evil laugh)
Scene 2: Capulet's Grand Plan Unfolds

Lord Capulet: By my honor! We've been humiliated
in front of the Queen once again. I do not know how
much longer my pride about being one of the main
families of our kingdom handle this shame
.
Lady Capulet: Do not succumb to the sorrow
brought on by our loss in that stupid game. That is
exactly what they want; we cannot allow ourselves
to be looked down upon.
Lord Capulet: Then what shall we do my dear?
Lady Capulet: If they want us to feel devastated
then we should do exactly the opposite. Tonight, we
feast.
Lord Capulet: Brilliant idea! Since our young Juliet
is now of marrying age, this event can serve as her
engagement party.

Lady Capulet: Wonderful, Wonderful! I'll be the

one taking the lead for this event, you go ahead and
rest, and you’ve had a long and tiring day.
(Lord Capulet exit)
Lady Capulet: Percival! Come and deliver these!
Percival: What is that my lady? How am I to offer
you my assistance?
Lady Capulet: I need you to deliver these invitations
to the people that are in this guest list.
Percival: Yes my lady! (Out)
Paris: (gets in) Lady Capulet?
Lady Capulet: Oh my dear Paris! You're finally
here!
Paris: Please forgive me my lady; I have something
important I needed to attend to.
Lady Capulet: It’s alright, it’s alright, and I just
finished what I was doing anyway.
Paris: May I ask why you requested for my
presence, Lady Capulet?
Lady Capulet: What do you think about my
daughter, Paris? In marital term, I mean.
Paris: Well, if I have to admit, she's certainly is the
most beautiful girl in the entirety of Verona. I'm
sure all young men dream of being her lover, and
that includes me. Why do you ask?
Lady Capulet: I was thinking of engaging you to my
daughter. That's why I called you, to ask for your
opinion regarding this matter.
Paris: I would certainly love that, Lady Capulet!

That would fulfill all of my dreams.
Lady Capulet: Marvelous! Attend tonight's ball, you

Scene 3: The Forbidden Invitation

Percival: Good day gentlemen, may I ask you to bid
a small part of your time and help me read this?
Romeo: My, my, I would never turn down someone
that is asking for my help. Let me see...
Percival: Oh you're so kind young lad! Here...
(Percival hands paper)
Romeo: *Reads* Guest Invitation for the Capulet's
Feast...
Escellade Rockwell, Saratel Aticus, Xavier Athien,

Rosaline Capulet...
(Romeo blanks out)
Percival: Thank you good sire, now... (Bows) good

(Nurse is running after Juliet)
Nurse: Young Miss! Try on your dress!

Juliet: Mesh... I don’t really like wearing fancy
dresses. I wear it because it makes my mother
happy.
Nurse: Now my dear, just enjoy the moment. I'm
sure she's only doing it for your sake.
Juliet: Thanks Nan...
Nurse: Now smile for me will you?
(Juliet smiles)
Nurse: You look perfect. To the ball... shall we?
(Nurse extends he hand to Juliet)
Juliet: Yes milady *chuckles*
(Accepts hand)
(Lady Capulet enters)
Lady Capulet: My, my, my daughter looks so
lovely!
Nurse: Isn’t that right? She's the prettiest girl I have

Juliet: Oh stop that you two...
Lady Capulet: Say Juliet since you're already old
enough... (Sorrowful Music)
Juliet: Yes?
Lady Capulet: What do you think about marriage?
Juliet: I never think of it.
Lady Capulet: Well think of it now. Count Paris
wishes for your hand at marriage.
Nurse: Hold on³ Count Paris?? You do know how
old your daughter is don’t you??
Juliet: But mother! I hardly even know the man!
Lady Capulet: (to nurse) yes I do know how old my
daughter is,
she's old enough to marry. I met your father when I
was your age. And just get to know him at the feast
tonight! Study his eyes, his movements, his
gestures. Now off I go, I still have a lot to prepare.
(Kisses Juliet at the cheeks)
(Lady Capulet exits)
Nurse: Oh let's not feel so sad. Nothing's set in stone
I’m sure your parents will change their minds!
Juliet: Thanks Nan...
Nurse: Of course my dear, now shall we go to the
ball?
(Grabs Juliet's hands and exits)
Scene 5: Montagues Plan

Benvolio: You know what, Romeo is something (In the Montague

Mercutio: Maybe... We don't have anything to do
anyway and I could use some fun.
Benvolio: You all are crazy... (Jolly Music)
Mercutio: I heard it’s going to be a mascara party.

(They go inside, grab mascara, and look around)
Lord Capulet: Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen! I
honored to have
these set of esteemed guests attend my ball! Today
we celebrate my daughter's engagement with a
feast! Behold my beloved daughter!
(Points hand at Juliet who is with Nurse)
(Lord Capulet grabs his daughter's hand)
Lord Capulet: Come dear Paris! Come and dance
with your soon to be wife.
(Waltz Music)
Lady Capulet: I'm so proud of you Juliet. You're
finally marrying into a wonderful family. I only
wish for your happiness.
Paris: May I have this dance milady?
Juliet: It would be my honor...
(Music starts playing and they dance)
Scene 1.2: Benvolio’s POV

Rosaline: Hey, you don’t look like a Capulet
Benvolio: Hello... OH do I know you?
Rosaline: Oh! My name is Rosaline. (Smiles)
Benvolio: R-rosaline?

Benvolio: Oh ah, yes from someone that talks about
your beauty day and night.
Rosaline: Oh really? Where is that person?
Benvolio: I don’t know, probably off flirting with
other girls.
Rosaline: My, looks like he isn’t loyal, what about
you, are you also a flirt?
Benvolio: Ah! No! Of course not!
Rosaline: Really *chuckles*
Scene 1.3: Romeo’s POV

(Juliet and Paris finish dancing) (Applause)

Lord Capulet: Now, let us all dance! Music

Romeo: It must be my lucky night. Meeting such a

beautiful lady can only be brought by lady luck.
Juliet: My, you’re such a flatterer... and good
looking.
Romeo: I'll take that as a compliment. Now let’s
enjoy the music and the dance shall we?
Scene 1.4: Tybalt’s POV
Tybalt: That son of a..!
(Already grabbed his rapier and was about to attack

Lord Capulet: What are you doing Tybalt!?
Tybalt: Do you know who Juliet is dancing with
right now!?
(Points at Juliet)
Lord Capulet: Well a certainly fine gentleman if I
may say.
Tybalt: THAT’S ROMEO! From the house of the
Montague's! We must make him leave or else he'll
being shame to the name of our family!
Lord Capulet: Now now, calm down... just let him
be.
Tybalt: But..!
Lord Capulet: You would only be making a more of
a ruckus if you kick him out and besides he isn't
causing any trouble anyway. As long as he behaves
himself then just let him be.
(Lord Capulet leaves Tybalt and goes to enjoy the
party)
Scene 1.5: Juliet’s POV

(The dances ended)
Romeo: It was wonderful meeting you young miss...
May I ask what your name is?
Juliet: I am Juliet from the house of the Capulet's.
May I ask for your name?
Romeo: The name is Romeo.
Juliet: That Montague?
Romeo: Yes I am a Montague, is there a problem
with that?

Juliet: No of course not! I have no have hatred

whatsoever towards the Montague’s, it’s only my
family that despises them...
Romeo: And it is the same for me, so I hope we
would meet again in the future milady.
Juliet: I hope so too...
Romeo: Now I have to leave milady, your family
might behead if they find out I am here ha-ha...
good bye.
(Romeo leaves Juliet in the dance floor)
Romeo: Let's go, we should leave now.
Mercutio: Were leaving already? I'm already having
fun!
Benvolio: Good idea let’s leave; I'm about to
breakdown from nervousness.
(They left the ball)
Scene 2: Tryst on High

[Juliet appears on her balcony] (Melodic
Music)
Romeo: Oh, Juliet! You shine bright like the sun in
the sky. I wish I could touch you, my dear.
Juliet: Romeo, is that you? Why are you here? It's
dangerous for you to be in my family's garden.
Romeo: I cannot resist your beauty, my love. I
would risk anything to be near you.
Juliet: But if anyone saw you, they would surely kill
you. Our families are sworn enemies.
Romeo: I know, my sweet. But my love for you is
stronger than any hate between our families. I will
do anything to be with you.

Juliet: I feel the same way, Romeo. But what can we

do? How can we be together when our families hate
each other so much?
Romeo: Let us make a plan, my love. Let us elope
and run away together. I will take you far from here,
and we will live our lives in happiness.
Juliet: Oh, Romeo, you are so brave and so kind.
Yes, let us make a plan and be together forever.
Romeo: Then it is settled, my dear. I will make
arrangements and come back for you soon. Until
then, my heart beats only for you.
Juliet: And mine for you, Romeo. Farewell, my
love.
Romeo: Farewell, Juliet.
[Juliet starts to go inside but pauses as Romeo
begins to speak again.]
Romeo: But wait, Juliet! One last thing before I go.
Juliet: What is it, Romeo?
Romeo: I must touch your hand, even if only for a
moment.
[Romeo begins to climb up the balcony wall.]
Juliet: Romeo, what are you doing?
Romeo: Climbing to your balcony, my dear. I

cannot bear to leave without one more moment with
you.
(Romantic Music)
[Juliet watches as Romeo climbs up to her balcony,
finally reaching it and stepping onto it.]
Romeo: Oh, Juliet, you are more beautiful up close
than I could ever have imagined.
Juliet: Romeo, you are crazy to climb up here. You
could have fallen and hurt yourself.

Romeo: But the risk was worth it, my love. To be

with you, even for a moment, is worth any danger.
Juliet: You are so brave, Romeo. I wish I could be
as brave as you.
Romeo: You are brave in your own way, my dear.
Your love for me gives you strength, just as my love
for you gives me strength.
[They gaze into each other's eyes, lost in the
moment.]
Juliet: Oh, Romeo, I wish we could stay like this
forever.
Romeo: So do me, my love. But we must make
haste. Our families will be searching for us soon.
Juliet: Yes, you are right. We must make a plan to
be together.
Romeo: And we will, my dear Juliet. We will be
together, no matter what it takes.
[They embrace each other tightly, lost in their love.]
Juliet: I will wait for you, Romeo. I will wait for
you to come back and take me away from here.
(Both Exits)
Scene 3: Father Lawrence’s Advice

(Romeo rushes to the church)
Father Lawrence: Good morning, Romeo. What
brings you here so early?
Romeo: Father, I need your help. I want to marry
Juliet.

Father Lawrence: (surprised) you want to marry

her? But your families are at war. How can you
possibly make this work?
Romeo: (determined) I love her, Father. I love her
more than anything in this world. And I will do
whatever it takes to be with her.
Father Lawrence: (thoughtful) I see. And you want
me to perform the ceremony?
Romeo: Yes, Father. Please. I know it's a lot to ask,
but I can't imagine my life without her. I need her
by my side.
Father Lawrence: (serious) Romeo, marriage is a
serious commitment. It requires love, trust, and
sacrifice. Are you prepared to give up everything
for Juliet?
Romeo: (confident) I am, Father. I will do whatever
it takes to make her happy. I will be a good husband
to her, and I will always love her with all my heart.
Father Lawrence: (nodding) Very well. I will help
you. But we must be careful. Your families must not
find out. And we must make sure that your marriage
is legal and binding.
Romeo: (grateful) Thank you, Father. Thank you so
much. I will do everything in my power to make
this work.
Father Lawrence: (smiling) I believe you, my son.
And I will do everything in my power to help you.
Now, let us begin. We have much to do, and little
time to waste.
Scene 4: Wedding Plans
Mercutio: Where in the world is Romeo.
Benvolio: Well he didn't sleep here tonight.

Benvolio: Well wherever he is he's in big trouble.
Mercutio: Why?
Benvolio: Earlier, Tybalt sent a letter of duel for
Romeo
Mercutio: You don’t have to worry about Romeo,
he's good as dead!
Benvolio: How can you be so sure?
Mercucio: Tybalt fights with outmost precision!
He's fighting is flawless. Might as well prepare a
funeral for Romeo.
(Romeo enters)
Benvolio: Where in the world have you been?
Romeo: With my one true love?
Benvolio: Well you’re in for some big trouble...
Romeo: Oh! Gotta go!
(Romeo leaves)
Benvolio: sighs
(Outside the Montague's household)
(Romeo meets with Juliet's Nurse in a secluded
area.)
Romeo: Nurse, I need your help. Juliet and I wish to
be married, but we cannot do so openly. Can you
help us?
Nurse: Of course, my dear Romeo. I will do
anything to help you two lovebirds. What do you
need from me?
Romeo: We have arranged to meet at the chapel.
Can you tell Juliet to go there under the pretense of

confession and have her wait for me to arrive? Then

we can be married in secret.
Nurse: Ah, I see. A secret wedding. Well, you can
count on me. I will tell Juliet to go to the chapel for
confession and leave the rest to you. But be careful,
Romeo. If anyone finds out about this, there could
be dire consequences.
Romeo: Thank you, Nurse. You are a true friend.
Nurse: Anything for my dear Juliet. But tell me,
Romeo, what are your plans after the wedding?
Where will you go?
Romeo: I plan to stay in Verona for a few days, and
then flee to Mantua until the feud between our
families is resolved.
Nurse: Very well. I will make sure that Juliet knows
the plan. But you must promise me one thing,
Romeo.
Romeo: Anything, Nurse.
Nurse: Promise me that you will make Juliet happy.
Promise me that you will love her forever and keep
her safe from harm.
Romeo: I swear on my life that I will make Juliet
the happiest woman in the world. I will love her
with all my heart and protect her from any danger.
Nurse: Very well, Romeo. I trust you. Good luck to
you both.
Romeo: Thank you, Nurse. You have been a true
friend. We owe you everything.
Nurse: Don't mention it, my dear Romeo. Anything
for true love.
Scene 5: Covert Nuptials

Nurse: Oh Juliet I bring news! (Panting) (In the Capulet’s

house)
Juliet: What is the news for your face to look so
gloom? (Juliet's room)
Nurse: Oh my back! My entire body hurts from
walking don’t you have patience? Look I’m still out
of breath!
Juliet: You seem to still have some breath for you to
tell it.
Nurse: I must say, your taste in men is impeccable!
That Romeo looks angelic, well except for his
attitude but there is still time.
Juliet: Why are you telling me this?
Nurse: I just spoke with Romeo, and he has agreed
to hold your secret wedding.
Juliet: Oh, Nurse, this is the best news I could have
hoped for. How did you convince him?
Nurse: Well, I told him how much you love him and
how important this is to you. I also reminded him of
his love for you and the promises he made to you.
Juliet: Thank you so much, Nurse. You have done
so much for me already.
Nurse: You're welcome, my dear. I will always do
anything I can to make you happy. Now, as for the
wedding, Romeo suggested that you meet him at the
Friar's cell tomorrow afternoon. He will be waiting ***
for you there. (At the chapel)
Juliet: That's perfect. I can hardly contain my
excitement.
Nurse: I know, Juliet. It's going to be a beautiful
day, but we must make preparations. There's much
to be done before tomorrow.
Juliet: Yes, of course. I will do whatever it takes to
make this day perfect.

Nurse: Good girl. Now, I will go and inform the

Friar of the plan, and we'll get to work. Oh, Juliet,
I'm so happy for you.
Juliet: Thank you, Nurse. I'm happy too. I can't wait

Nurse: It won't be long now, my dear. Just one more
day.

Father Lawrence: Are sure about this Romeo? You
do know there is no turning back after you are wed
right?
Romeo: I can never be surer father, I am confident.
Father Lawrence: Very well
(Juliet arrives with nurse)
(Church Bell
Juliet: Romeo! Rings)
(Runs and hugs Romeo)
Romeo: (hugs back) my dear Juliet, are you ready?
(Happy Wedding
Juliet: Yes, yes I am. Let’s get wed Music)
Father Lawrence: [smiling warmly] Welcome, my
children. We are gathered here today to unite
Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet in holy
matrimony.
[Romeo takes Juliet's hand, looking deeply into her
eyes.]
Romeo: [whispering] I love you, my sweet Juliet.
Juliet: [smiling] And I you, my Romeo.
Father Lawrence: Before we begin, I must ask, have
either of you any objections to this union?
[Romeo and Juliet shake their heads.]

Father Lawrence: Then let us proceed. [To Romeo]

Do you, Romeo, take Juliet to be your lawfully
wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day
forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer,

Romeo: I do.
Father Lawrence: [To Juliet] And do you, Juliet,
take Romeo to be your lawfully wedded husband, to
have and to hold, from this day forward, for better,
for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in
health, until death do you part?
Juliet: I do.
Father Lawrence: Then by the power vested in me
by the Church, I now pronounce you husband and
wife. You may kiss the bride.
[Romeo and Juliet share a loving kiss, as the Nurse
and Father Lawrence look on with tears in their
eyes.]
Father Lawrence: May God bless this union and
guide you on your journey together.
[The newlyweds embrace, as the Nurse wipes away
her tears.]
Nurse: My sweet Juliet, you look so beautiful. [To

Romeo] And you, young man, take good care of
her.
Romeo: I will, I promise.
Juliet: [giggles] And I'll take good care of him too.

(They draw their swords and begin to fight)
Benvolio: Mercutio, stop! This is madness!
(Mercutio continues to fight fiercely, but is
eventually mortally wounded)
Mercutio: A plague o' both your houses! I am sped.
Is he gone and hath nothing?
(Romeo Arrives)
Benvolio: Romeo, we have to leave. The Prince will
not look kindly on this.
Romeo: (in anguish) How could this have
happened? Mercutio was the best of us.

Benvolio: It was Tybalt. He struck the fatal blow.

Romeo: (with anger) Tybalt. He will pay for this. I (Sword fight
will see to it. sound effects)
Benvolio: Romeo, think. This is not the way. If you
fight Tybalt now, you'll be banished from Verona.
Romeo: (determined) Banishment is nothing
compared to the loss of Mercutio. I will have my
revenge.
(Romeo confronts Tybalt)
Tybalt: (mockingly) what brings you here, Romeo?
Have you come to cry over your dead friend?
Romeo: (with seething rage) you will pay for what
you've done.
Tybalt: (drawing his sword) I'm always happy to
oblige.
[They begin to fight. The two are evenly matched,
and the fight is intense.]
[As the fight reaches its climax, Romeo disarms
Tybalt and has him at his mercy.]
Romeo: (breathless) I could kill you now, Tybalt.
But I won't. You're not worth it.
[He turns to leave, but Tybalt suddenly lunges at
him with a hidden dagger. Romeo dodges, and
Tybalt falls on his own blade, mortally wounded.]
Tybalt: (gasping) you… you'll pay for this… both
of you.
[Tybalt Dies]
Scene 2: The Queen’s Verdict

[The scene opens in the grand hall of the Prince's
palace. The Capulet and Montague families are

present, along with the Queen.]

Queen: (solemnly) I have called you both here today
to address the tragedy that has befallen Verona. The
deaths of Tybalt and Mercutio have left a dark cloud
over our city.
Capulet: (defensively) my nephew was defending
his honor. He had every right to challenge Romeo.
Montague: (angrily) your nephew killed one of our
own. He had no right to take Mercutio's life.
Queen: (firmly) Enough. Both families have blood
on their hands, and both must take responsibility.
The fighting between your families has gone on for
too long, and it must end.
Capulet: (skeptical) And how do you propose we do
that, your highness?
Queen: (thoughtfully) I have a solution. Romeo, you
are banished from Verona. You must leave at once
and never return. And as for the Capulet and
Montague families, you must put aside your
differences and come together to honor the
memories of Tybalt and Mercutio.
Montague: (surprised) Come together? That's never
been done before.
Capulet: (nodding in agreement) But perhaps it's
time we try something new.
Queen: (pleased) Good. Then it is settled. Romeo,
you must leave at once. And the Capulet and
Montague families will work together to build a
monument in honor of Tybalt and Mercutio.
[The scene ends with the Capulet and Montague
families looking at each other warily, but with a hint
of hope that perhaps peace between them is
possible.]

Scene 3: Love and Loss

Juliet : I'm so excited! Romeo is going to be with (Inside Juliet’s
me tonight! We're married now, but the only people Room)
who know are Father Lawrence and my Nurse. Here
she is now. (The nurse enters)
Nurse: Juliet, my dear, something terrible has
happened. (She starts crying) He's dead, he's dead.
Juliet: Who's dead? Not Romeo? Not my husband?
Nurse: No, Tybalt is dead.
Juliet: Oh, no! My cousin Tybalt! How did he die?
Nurse: There was a fight, and Romeo killed him.
Juliet: It can't be true! Romeo never fights.
Nurse: But it is true. Tybalt killed Romeo's friend
Mercutio, and Romeo was very angry. The two of
them started fighting, and Romeo killed Tybalt.
Juliet: Where's Romeo now? And what's going to
happen to him?
Nurse: Romeo is hiding in Father Lawrence's house.
The Queen has told Lord Montague that Romeo
must leave Verona and never come back.
Juliet: So I'll never see him again! ( She starts
crying )
Nurse: Don't cry, my dear. Listen. I'll go to Father
Lawrence's house and tell Romeo to come here
secretly tonight, to say goodbye to you.
Juliet: Thank you, Nurse. You're very kind. Wait -
take this ring. (She gives her a ring) Give it to
Romeo, and tell him that I love him.
Scene 4: A Fateful Decision

Father Lawrence: Romeo - where are you? It’s me, (At father
Father Lawrence. (Romeo comes out) Lawrence's
chapel)
Romeo : What did the Queen say? Am I going to
die?
Father Lawrence : No. Killing Tybalt was wrong.
But the Prince is not going to execute you. He said
that you must leave Verona immediately, and never
come back
Romeo : This is terrible! ( He starts crying) Leaving
Juliet is worse than dying. (Knock effects)
Father Lawrence: Just listen, Romeo! You are
lucky. The Prince has been kind to you.
Romeo : But I want to die! I can't live without
Juliet! ( There is a knock on the door )
Father Lawrence: Hide, Romeo! If anyone finds you
here, there will be trouble!
Romeo : It doesn't matter. I want to die. ( The Nurse
enters )
Father Lawrence: Im happy to see you, Nurse. Have
you been with Juliet?
Nurse : Yes. I saw her a few minutes ago, crying
and shaking, just like Romeo here.
Romeo: But I killed her cousin. Does she still love
me?
Nurse : Yes, of course she does. ( She gives Romeo
Juliet's ring ) She sends you this ring.
Father Lawrence: Listen, Romeo. You can go to see
Juliet tonight. But then you must leave Verona.
Later, I will tell everybody that you and Juliet are
married, and I will ask the Prince to think again.
Perhaps you can come back to Verona soon. But
you have to leave Verona tonight and go to Mantua.
Do you agree to do that?

Romeo: Yes, Father. How long must I stay in

Mantua?
Father Lawrence: I'm not sure. Stay there until I
send you a message. Don't come back until you hear
from me.
Scene 5: Depths of Despair

Lady Capulet: Are you really gonna push the (At the Capulet's
wedding? Even though our daughter is in grief? house)
Lord Capulet: Of course I am. Its not like I dont
understand her feeling but this is also for her. Who
knows she might feel better at the hands of our dear
count Paris. Isn't that right Paris?
Paris: I would do all that I can to make your
daughter feel better My lord and My lady
Lord Capulet: See? Now let's see her. (Sorrowful
Melody)
(In Juliet's bedroom)
Romeo: I'm sorry I have to leave you my love..
Juliet: Just promise me you'll come back
Romeo: I promise my love. I always return to you ,
even in death.. I love you (Caresses Juliet's Face)
Juliet: I love you too, my Romeo (Touches Romeo's
hand on her cheeks) Now leave before my parents
for you here and make things more complicated.
Romeo: I love you my, Juliet. (Romeo Exits)
(Lord and Lady Capulet enters the room)
Lady Capulet: Juliet? Are you still up?
Juliet: Yes mother, I cant sleep..
Lady Capulet: It's okay my dear, Im sure you're still

Lord Capulet: Juliet My dear, I know you are still
aab but there is something you need to know..
Juliet: What is it father?
Lord Capulet: You will be marrying Paris this (Music of Despair)
Thursday.
Juliet: What!?!
Lord Capulet: I know its a lot to take in but please
understand, this is for your sake.
Juliet: But I dont even know him well enough! I just
met him once! At the ball!
Lord Capulet: The decision is final. Good night.
(Lord and Lady Capulet exit)
Juliet: Oh what am I gonna do now.. (sobs)
Nurse: Lets not feel too devastated my dear, Paris is
a good man and maybe he'll help you get over
Romeo..
(Nurse exits)
Juliet: I thought I could atleast trust my nan, I now
have nobody. I'll go to father Lawrence, maybe he
has a solution for all of this.

Scene 1: Deceit
Juliet: Father Lawrence! Where are you! (At the chapel)
Father Lawrence: I am here my dear! What do you
need?
Juliet: My parents said that I shall marry Paris on
Tuesday!
Father Lawrence: Tuesday? Thats in two days!
Juliet: I know Father, its terrible! (Juliet breaks
down)
Father Lawrence: Fear not, I have a solution Juliet.
Here take this, this is a potion that will make one
fall asleep for a few days as though completely
dead.
Juliet: But what am I to do about this?
Father Lawrence: Take this, trust me. You will
pretend to be dead while I inform Romeo of the
situation and make him return to Verona as quickly
as possible. Then the two of you can escape
together.
Juliet: Just what do you want me to do?
Father Lawrence: I want you to drink this medicine
the night before your wedding. You'll fall deep
asleep and everyone will think you are dead.
Juliet: What would happen then?
Father Lawrence: They would the take your body to
the tomb next to Tybalt. After that you would wake
up. Dint worry I will send a message to Romeo to
inform him of our plans. It's very dangerous, will
you still do it?
Juliet: I would father, I would do anything for me
and Romeo to be together. I would never let

anything get in the way of our love. (Leaves)

Father Lawrence: Sister Jane! Come quickly!
Sister Jane: What is it father?
Father Lawrence: I need you to bring this message
to Romeo in Mantua, It is very important.

(At the Capulet's House)
(Everyone is busy)
Lady Capulet: (To servant) Get everything ready,
the cooks, the decorators, musicians, everything!
We need this to be a perfect wedding.
Lord Capulet: (To nurse) Where is Juliet?
Nurse: She's atvthe chapel with Father Lawrence.
Dont worry she'll be back any moment now. Oh!
Look there she is now.
Juliet: Sorry Im late father. (Takes a deep breath)
You were right father.
Lord Capulet: What?
Juliet: You told me to marry Paris and you were
right. I do need him in my life. I would continue
with the wedding.
Lord Capulet: Wonderful! Simply Wonderful!
Listen everyone! The wedding will be rescheduled
to tomorrow! (To servant) Go tell paris.
Lady Capulet: Tomorrow? But you said it would be
on Thursday! We wont be ready by tomorrow!
Lord Capulet: That doesn't matter, now hurry up if
you want to make our daughter's wedding perfect!
Nobody is sleeping tonight! We will all be very
busy! Oh I'm so happy!
(Juliet's Room)

but they're wrong. (Takes out the bottle) When I
take this I'm gonna fall asleep and wake up in the
hands of Romeo. (Drinks the Liquid)
(Sleeps)
Scene 2: Death’s Party

Lady Capulet: We need more food! Bring those (Capulet's house)
flowers over here! Hey! I need you to rearrange
these!
Lord Capulet: Hurry up we dont have much time!
Nurse: Why dont you take some sleep Lord and
Lady? Its already morning.
Lady Capulet: How can I sleep? It's my daughter's
wedding! I need to make everything perfect for the
party! It's gonna be the best party the world has
seen! Paris will be here soon, nurse, wake up Juliet.
Nurse: Yes Lady Capulet.
(In Juliet's bedroom)
Nurse: Juliet? Juliet? Wake up! (Juliet doesn't wake
up) Help! Help!
(Lord and Lady Capulet together with their servants

arrive)
Lady Capulet: Whats the matter?
Nurse: S-she wont wake up! I think she's dead!
( Sad Violin
Lady Capulet: (Falls to the ground) Oh! (Sobs) tune)
Juliet! My only child! Please! Please wake up!

sweetest child in the world! She was only thirteen
and now she's dead.. (Paris arrives)
Paris: I have come to marry Juliet! (Sees Juliet's
body) Juliet?
What happened to her?
Nurse: She stopped breathing just this morning.
Paris: Juliet – dead? This is the worst day of my life.
Lord Capulet: Carry her to the church. We will hold
a funeral for her and place her next to her cousin's
tomb...
Scene 3: Tragic Longing

Romeo: Oh! My fairest Juliet, when shall I gaze my (In Mantua)
eyes upon your beauty once more. I can no longer
endure this torture of being away from you...
Romeo's Servant: My lord! There is news from
Verona! Juliet is dead. I saw them put ger body in
the Capulet's tomb yesterday.
Romeo: What!?! I must go back and find out what
happened!
Romeo's Servant: Wait my lord! We should wait
until father Lawrence send a message before we go
back!
Romeo: No! I'm going to Verona to see my Juliet!
No one can stop me. I need some poison, if my
dearest Juliet really is dead then I shall waste no
time and follow after so that we may be together
even... in afterlife.
(Romeo goes to the Shoemaker)
Romeo: Give me the strongest poison you have.
Shoemaker: Sure, but It’s going to be a little

expensive since I don’t usually sell poison.

Romeo: I don’t care about the price, just give it to
me!
Shoemaker: Well if you say so.. here you go.
(Hands Romeo the Poison)
(Romeo leaves with his servant)
(Sister Jane arrives)
Sister Jane: Romeo? Romeo are you here? On no!
He must've heard the news of Juliet's death and
headed for Verona! This is terrible!
Scene 4: Deadly Elixir of Love

Paris: Oh Juliet! Why must you leave me. I still (At the Capulet's
wish to gaze upon that beauty of yours... (Hears tomb)
noises) Wait, someone's coming!
(Hides)
(Romeo appears)
Romeo: Juliet! No! Why did you have to go on your
own... you said we would be together!
Paris: You're that Romeo Montague aren't you? (Sword fight
