3 - PREPARATION OF DISTURBED SOIL SAMPLE FOR TEST
b. Break the sample with the use of the rubber mallet or a mortar and pestle.
IV. RESULTS
Since the oven cannot accommodate all the soil samples, the group
dried the samples by air for 48 hours. Then, after the soil samples were
completely dry, they were broken into smaller particles using a rubber mallet and
a mortar and pestle. It was hard to break the samples and it took 2-3 days before
all the samples were broken and ready for various experiments.
V. CONCLUSION
The soil samples were soaked when they were obtained, so it took more
than 24 hours before they were completely dried up. It was hard to break the
samples into smaller particles when they were not completely dry since the soil
would stick to the rubber mallet or pestle. In conclusion, it is easy to break the
soil when it is completely dry.
