“Every Child is Special”

“Every child is a different kind of flower and all together make this world a beautiful garden.”
Ishan is a child who is suffering from a neurological disorder called dyslexia. He has a
condition wherein he has a difficulty in recognizing letters and numbers. Since he has this
condition, he can’t write and read properly. He always fails his tests and did not seem to have
done anything right at all. Because of these his classmate always teases him. The teacher tells the
child’s parents by explaining the situation that dyslexia is not a disorder that you cannot get over
and with special methods it can be overcome and he succeeds. In the movie, psychological and
mental depressions of the child emerged from those reasons are handled. On the film, the father
was too idealistic that he failed to recognize the special needs of his child. He often dismissed
notion of mental retardation since it will make him less of a father or member of the elite society.
This sad truth often leads their children failure and sometimes depression. On the film, the father

Ishaan’s teachers are more of the current educational setting where they stressed the
students in the field of academic performance. Lacking the knowledge about diversity of
learners, they are focused on mere academic performance, not also by the child's talent and
interest.
The movie is very encouraging and informative. It imparts moral values not just for
teachers but for parents and school administrators as well. It taught us to be nonjudgmental to
children’s behavior and even to other people’s behavior, because everything happens for a
reason. Some may say that life is unfair, that’s what the child in the story would also say until he
met someone with a very caring heart. For teachers, it teaches us to consider and understand the
individual differences of our learners. Every child is unique. We have to bear in mind that every
child has their own capabilities, their own desires, and their own dreams. Inflicting physical and
emotional punishments to children who failed to meet our expectations doesn’t do any good for
the development of the child. We have to be very flexible and expect that not all students or
pupils are toppers in academic matters. Some may excel in other field of interest. It is the
teacher’s role to find out the strength and weaknesses of their students and to help the students
enhancing their strengths as well as in overcoming their weaknesses just like what the teacher in
the movie did. Nikumbh noticed the indifference of his pupil, Ishaan, along with the unusual
behavior towards his studies. So what he did was to get to know the background of Ishaan. He
exerted time and effort in visiting Ishaan’s family just to find out the cause of the problem, why
Ishaan acts that way. That’s what teachers are supposed to do. We have to embrace the child’s
whole world, and that includes his family and community because the family and community are
important factors that can influence the child’s behavior.
The story really inspires me, especially on the part after discovering the root cause of the
child’s behaviors, Nikumbh (the teacher) finds many ways in order to help the child. He talked to
the school principal, and he himself spend two to three hours a day to teach the child in areas that
confuses him specially in certain letters and numbers. He wasn’t really after the salary; besides,
he was after the development of the child. He has the passion for teaching. He utilized various
ways in motivating Ishaan and to make learning easier for the child that includes introducing
famous persons who were also dyslexic like him to feel that he is not alone and even the other
personalities who were once dyslexic managed to succeed in life. Among the many ways of
motivating the pupil includes writing on the sand, using manipulative toys like clays, painting,
and writing numbers from big to small sizes using ladder steps in counting. The constant words
of compliment as well as acknowledging good behaviors and simple accomplishments of the
child help boost their self-confidence. What teacher Nikumbh did was not easy, but with
perseverance, the child prevailed over his confusion with letters and numbers. He also regained
his interest in his studies and in painting. Thanks to the effort of his teacher, Nikumbh.
The movie teaches us not to judge someone based on what we only see. We should not
discriminate our special ones because of something they can’t do. Instead help them develop
their own unique gifts. The story tells us that there is always something good in the worse of a
person. Sometimes, we just have to open our hearts so we can see properly what the real problem
is and accept and believe that change is possible. It also tells us that if we fail in one task, it is not
the end of everything. We may not excel in one field, but we may in another. Each of us is
special. Every Child is Special.

“Every Child is Special”

Every child is special, this movie makes me realize that we have different levels of learning.
We can't force someone to be good at that particular thing, instead, we should need to guide them
and teach them until they learn. In the movie, every child is special, not only the child has
problems there but also the teacher. Especially to teachers who underestimated and didn't believe
in the ability of a child, instead of helping the child they shouted at him and embarrassed him in
class. They think that the child can't learn anymore. On the other hand, is the societal stigma and
lack of understanding toward children with learning disabilities. The movie centers around
Ishaan, an 8-year-old boy who struggles with dyslexia and feels misunderstood and isolated from
his peers and family. His parents and teachers believe he is lazy and nonchalant about his studies,
not realizing that he is suffering from a learning disorder. As a result, they put immense pressure
on him to excel and constantly criticize him for his poor academic performance. This leads to
Ishaan developing a fear and aversion towards studies and school. The movie addresses the
problem of how children with learning disabilities are made to feel inadequate and ostracized by
an education system that doesn't cater to their individual needs. The movie also highlights the
importance of recognizing and nurturing the talents and abilities of every child, regardless of
their academic performance.
The aspect that the teachers of Ishaan did not recognize was that he had a learning disability,
which was the essential aspect that was affecting his academic performance. They only saw
Ishaan as a careless and lazy student who was not interested in learning. They did not realize that
he was struggling to read, write, and do basic mathematical calculations. This lack of
understanding of his learning disability caused them to punish him for his poor academic
performance rather than provide him with the necessary support and accommodations to help
him succeed. It was only after Ishaan's parents intervened and got him tested for a learning
disability that his teachers started to understand his struggles and were able to provide him with
the help he needed to thrive academically. The movie “Every child is special” beautifully
portrays the importance of recognizing and acknowledging learning disabilities and the need for
a patient and supportive approach to education.
To be honest, I'm not good as they think, but as a future educator, if ever I meet a learner
like Ishaan, I would be:
First, understand their learning style. It is important to understand the kind of learner
Ishaan is, his learning strengths and weaknesses, and his preferred learning style. This will help
me tailor his learning to his specific needs and help him achieve his full potential.
Second, identifying their strengths and weaknesses: It is important to assess the areas
where the learner excels and struggles, to tailor the teaching approach and materials to meet their
specific needs.
Third, Communication with Parents/Guardians: I would work closely with Ishaan's
parents/guardians to understand his background, any previous educational experiences, and what
their expectations are for their child. Regular meetings would be arranged to discuss progress
and share strategies for enhancing his learning.
Fourth, Accommodations, and Modifications: I would implement appropriate
accommodations and modifications to the curriculum to meet the specific needs of Ishaan. This
could include adjusting the difficulty of tasks, providing additional time for assessments, or
providing more visual aids.
Overall, my focus would be on creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
that provides Ishaan with the necessary support to set realistic goals, and utilizing effective
instructional methods are key to helping learners like Ishaan achieve their full potential and to
achieve academic success.
The lessons that can be learned from the movie “Every Child is Special” As future educators,
we must focus on the limitations of our students to their unique abilities, strengths, and learning
styles. As future teachers someday, we must be willing to adapt our instructional approaches to
meet their individual needs, show patience toward their learning progress, and create a classroom
environment that embraces and celebrates diversity. One of the valuable lessons that can be
learned from the movie is the importance of recognizing that every child has unique strengths,
weaknesses, and learning styles. It is significant to identify and acknowledge these differences,
as they can impact how students comprehend and engage with the lesson. Teachers should strive
to create a learning environment that caters to the varying needs of their students, providing
ample opportunities for them to demonstrate their skills and abilities. The movie also highlights
the need for teachers to be patient and compassionate towards children who face challenges,
especially those with special needs. Teachers must approach these children with a growth
mindset, celebrating their achievements and addressing their areas of struggle with empathy and
understanding.

“Every Child is Special”

The movie "Every child is special" (also known as "Taare Zameen Par") tells the story of
a young boy named Ishaan who struggles with dyslexia and has difficulty keeping up with his
studies. His parents and teachers are frustrated with his poor academic performance and he is
often punished for his lack of focus and discipline. However, a new art teacher named Nikumbh
recognizes Ishaan's potential and takes the time to understand his learning differences, eventually
helping him to discover his own unique talents and abilities.
The problem depicted in the movie is the lack of understanding and support for children
who learn differently, particularly those with dyslexia or other learning disabilities. The
traditional educational system focuses on academic achievement and often fails to recognize the
he individual strengths and needs of each student. This causes many children like Ishaan to feel
discouraged misunderstood and left behind, leading to low self-esteem, frustration, and even
depression. The movie highlights the importance of empathy, creativity, and inclusivity in
education, showing that every child is something special to offer if given the right support and
encouragement.
The teacher of Ishaan, like many of the other adults in his life did not initially recognize
that Ishaan had dyslexia, a learning difference that affects a person's ability to read and write.
Instead, they saw Ishaan's struggles with reading, writing, and math as laziness or lack of interest
studies.
What Ishaan's s art teacher Nikumbh recognized was that Ishaan had a different way of
learning and needed personalized attention and support to thrive. Nikumbh beyond his academic
performance and appreciated his creativity, imagination and unique way of looking at the world
by understanding his learning differences and providing him with individualized teaching
methods. Nikumbh helped Ishaan to learn at his own pace and develop his strengths. In
summary, the essential aspect that the teachers of Ishaan did not recognize was that he had
dyslexia and needed individualized attention and support to reach his full potential.
If I were to meet a learner like Ishaan, there are several important things that I would
consider. First, understanding their unique learning style. Each student has their own way of
learning and processing information. It is essential to identify their strengths and weaknesses and
Tailor the teaching method based on their individual needs. Second, creating a safe and
supportive environment, students who struggle with learning differences may feel discouraged or
misunderstood. It is important to create a nurturing and accepting environment that fosters
creativity, confidence, and self-esteem. Third, collaborating with parents/guardians.
Parents/guardians play an essential role in supporting the education of their child. Regular
communication and collaboration with them can help ensure that the student is receiving
consistent support both at school and at home. Fourth, offering multiple ways of assessment.
Traditional forms of assessment may not always be an accurate representation of a student's
abilities, offering alternative forms of assessment such as project-based assignments or oral
presentation can help showcase the student’s strength in a more meaningful way.
The movie "Every child is special" carries several valuable lessons including: Every child
is unique and has their own strengths and weaknesses. It is important to recognize and appreciate
these differences. The power of empathy: It's essential to understand the struggles and needs of
others, especially those who may be different from us. The importance of individuals teaching
methods: Traditional teaching methods may not work for every student especially those with
learning differences. Teachers should be flexible and willing to adapt their teaching methods to
meet individual student needs. The need for a nurturing environment: A supportive environment
that fosters creativity, confidence, and self-esteem can help student reach their full potential.
Creativity can help students express themselves in alternative ways and showcase their unique
abilities that may not be considered in traditional academic settings. Overall, the movie
highlights the importance of recognizing each person's individuality fostering empathy
understanding and providing a supportive environment that nurtures each person's talents and
abilities.

“Every Child is Special”

The movie ‘Every Child Is Special’ is about a certain child name Ishaan Awasthi. Ishaan
is an eight-year-old whose world is filled with wonders that no one can appreciate, he is always
getting in trouble at school for being so misbehaving and out of focus from his lesson. As a child
like Ishaan, it is expected to be able to read and write numbers and letters. Because of this
insufficiency of knowledge, his parents and teacher always say that he’s just being naughty and
lazy, her mother always force him to read and write. Sometimes, the teacher caught Ishaan
daydreaming and getting low grades, he even cannot write or read, for him letters and numbers
are his enemy. Ishaan is being lazy boy because of this, his father decided to transfer him to
boarding school, by himself the hope of disciplining him, but his academic status is still not
improving and Ishaan start being depressed especially when his mother didn’t visit him. These
incidents crushed Ishaan confidence he did not speak to anyone not even to his mother or his
brother. No one would even try to help him because they can’t even try to understand him.
But with Ram Shankar Nikumbh which is the temporary art teacher, saw himself in
Ishaan and through his time, care and patience he manages to help and change the way Ishaan
would act towards school and learn to appreciate himself even more. But before that when the
first discuss of ram he noticed that Ishaan did not cooperate. Ram start to investigate, that time
he saw all the record of Ishaan the way he writes the numbers and letters, he realizes that there is
something wrong that’s why Ram decided to consult his parents. While talking to the parents of
ishaan he explained to them that their child has problem in reading and writing that what we call
dyslexia. Dyslexia is a learning disorder that involved difficulty in reading due to problems
identifying speech sounds and learning how they relate to letters and words. After Ram
explained the difficulty of Ishaan her mother realize that they are wrong the way they being mad
to him just because he can’t read and write. Ram help Ishaan in every way, he also gave Ishaan a
confidence boost so that he will not be afraid to express himself.
Ram talk to principal that give him some time to manage and teach Ishaaan but principal
said that how can he manage it if Ishaan even can’t read and write but Ram explain the difficulty
of his student that’s why principal give him chance. Ram taught Ishaan using different methods:
he made learning fun by applying games to his lessons and other technique in teaching. Ishaan
begins to improve in his studies, he has now can read and write some letters, number and he can
write properly and solve math problems.
In their school there is activity or battle which all students and teachers can join in this art
activity they are given some tools in making arts they only need to do is to draw something
unique and the one who is the most beautiful draw can claim some certificate and being the most
talented artist in their school. In their school ram is always the winner in terms in Painting but
when they saw the painting of Ishaan, they were surprised because of the beautiful painting they
had seen and couldn’t believe that just 8 years old can draw such a beautiful painting. Ishaan
announces that he’s the most talented in painting and got certificate in that activity ram is being
proud to his student Ishaan. Ishaan’s mother and father start to understand their child and support
him in painting that makes him happy.
As a future educator we need to manage our student not only by teaching them but also
knowing them of who really, they are because we are they second parents that can guide and
understand them. As what I have seen in the movie in teaching just like what Ram did, he
manage to teach his student even thought, Ishaan has a problem in reading and writing he think
some way so that his student can also join together by putting some tricks.
To help students, they need family support, teacher’s patience and love is needed, so the
interesting and enjoyable teaching can make student get their attention and some learning
strategies should be employed. Being teacher is such a powerful tool to guide a child for his life.
Although it can’t be expected that teachers are passionate for their profession just like the rest of
the teachers in the movie showed, a teacher should persevere hard to be the best he could be.
He/she should be open-minded and acknowledge, not ridicule for those who left behind. They
need to comfort and understand them so that they have some courage to fight and not to give up.
Like a star on the earth every child is special indeed. Their eyes shine so bright reflecting
their hearts inside. Like Ishaan the character in the movie, he is one the example of such child.
He’s such a talented child that full of imaginative, he thought himself as dump, lazy, and crazy.
But because of his teacher Ram, like a light in the darkness, he on the light in Ishaan’s down
heart by showing that he understands and care for him. Gradually the real Ishaan came back his
confidence and enthusiasm returned. At last teacher Ram is being proud for his student Ishaan.
