[How To] Uninstall/Install Bluetooth driver

This document applies to all MSI notebook with Wireless LAN/Bluetooth adapter.

I. Prepare the driver install package

1. Check the Bluetooth adapter in the Device Manager

A. Use the keyboard shortcut “Windows + S” to open Search bar and
search “Device Manager”.
B. Double-click on “Bluetooth” to expand the section.
C. Check the Bluetooth adapter.

2. Download the corresponding Bluetooth driver from the MSI download

page.

II. Uninstall the current Bluetooth driver

1. Disconnect the internet.

It prevents the Windows Update from installing the generic driver

automatically.

2. Uninstall the Bluetooth driver (Here we take Intel Bluetooth as the

example).
A. Go to the “Apps & features” panel and search “bluetooth”.

Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features

B. Uninstall Bluetooth driver listed on the search list.

C. Restart the system manually.

D. Open Device Manager and follow the steps below to check the driver is
uninstalled completely.
a. Right-click “Start” and click “Device Manager”.
b. Double-click on “Bluetooth” to expand the section.
c. Right-click the Bluetooth adapter.
d. Click “Uninstall”.

e. Check “Delete the driver software for this device” if this option is
available and click “OK”.

f. Restart the system

g. Repeat step a ~ f until the “Delete the driver software for this
device” is not available.

III. Install the new Bluetooth driver

Refer to the following steps to install the corresponding Bluetooth driver

according to the different Bluetooth adapters.

 Intel Bluetooth adapter

 Realtek Bluetooth adapter
 AMD Bluetooth adapter

1. Intel Bluetooth adapter

A. Decompress the driver package and go to the location.

Win10_UWD > WirelessSetup.exe

B. Double-Click on WirelessSetup.exe, and follow the on-screen

instructions to finish the installation.

C. Restart the system.

2. Realtek Bluetooth adapter

A. Decompress the driver package and find the installer “setup.exe”.
B. Double-Click on setup.exe, and follow the on-screen instructions to
finish the installation.

C. Restart the system.

3. AMD Bluetooth adapter

A. Decompress the driver package and go to the location.

BT > mktbtfilter.inf

B. Right-Click on mktbtfilter.inf, and select Install to install the Bluetooth

driver.

C. Restart the system.
