5. This assignment accounts for 50% of the total marks for the course divided by 10% for
Question 1, 20% for Question 2, 10% for Question 3 (Video Presentation) and 10% for
Question 4 (Online Class Participation).

QUESTION 1

Project cost control is important to all organisations, regardless of size. Cost control
is a sub-system of the management cost and control system.

By using any chosen project, review the following tasks:


a) Identify the elements of cost control which imply good cost management.
b) Describe phases of a management cost and control system.
c) The Earned Value Management System (EVMS) emphasises prevention over
cures. Discuss the benefits of applying EVMS in your project.

SOALAN 1

Dengan menggunakan mana-mana projek yang dipilih, kaji tugasan berikut:


a) Kenal pasti elemen-elemen kawalan kos yang memberikan pengurusan kos yang
baik.

c) Sistem Pengurusan Nilai Diperolehi (EVMS) menekankan pencegahan daripada
penawar. Bincangkan faedah-faedah mengaplikasikan EVMS dalam projek anda.

QUESTION 2

a) Draw the Critical Path Method (CPM) network diagram and highlight the critical
path for activities shown in Table 1(a). Perform CPM calculation using forward
pass and backward pass method and complete Table 1(b).

b) Draw a resources profile (histogram). Manually level your resources and


improve the daily resource use (start low, increase the resource use gradually
till it peaks around the middle of the project, then gradually decrease it toward
the end of the project). Give your comments on the resource profile.

QUESTION 3: VIDEO PRESENTATION

Project managers should see conflicts as opportunities to growth and to move the
project forward towards delivery. Conflicts allow project managers and project
stakeholders or project team members to raise and address the problem and highlight
unforeseen issues.

The content of the video presentation should answer the following question:
a) Discuss the major causes of conflict in projects.
b) Choose a situation in your project where you as a project manager need to
choose appropriate conflict management style to handle the situation.

Based on the question above, students need to prepare a video presentation based
on the following requirements:
i. The slides presentation should include your name, photo and programme
name.
ii. The duration of the video is between 10 to 15 minutes and the maximum size of
the video file does not exceed 400MB. The format of the video: mpeg/MP4/etc.
iii. The video presentation must be recorded with the slides along with the
presenter’s face and voice.
iv. You need to submit two different files: 1 file of the essay/calculation type
(Question 1, 2 and 4) and separate file for Question 3 (video presentation) to
the system.
v. For grading, please refer to the assessment rubric.

Pengurus projek harus melihat konflik sebagai peluang untuk berkembang dan
menggerakkan projek ke hadapan dan ke arah penyampaian. Konflik membolehkan
pengurus projek dan pihak berkepentingan projek atau ahli pasukan projek membangkitkan
dan menangani masalah tersebut serta menyerlahkan isu yang tidak dijangka.

Kandungan persembahan video tersebut perlu menjawab soalan berikut:


a) Bincangkan punca-punca utama konflik dalam projek.
b) Pilih situasi dalam projek anda di mana anda sebagai pengurus projek perlu memilih
gaya pengurusan konflik yang sesuai untuk menangani situasi tersebut.
Berdasarkan soalan di atas, pelajar perlu menyediakan persembahan video berdasarkan
keperluan-keperluan berikut:
i. Pembentangan slaid topik yang mengandungi nama, gambar dan program anda.
ii. Durasi video antara 10 hingga 15 minit dan saiz maksimum fail video tidak melebihi
400MB. Format video: mpeg/MP4/etc.
iii. Pembentangan video perlu dirakam bersama slaid berserta wajah dan suara anda.
iv. Anda perlu menghantar dua fail yang berbeza: 1 fail jenis esei/pengiraan (Soalan 1, 2
dan 4) dan fail berasingan bagi Soalan 3 (Persembahan video) ke dalam sistem.
v. Bagi penilaian, sila rujuk kepada rubrik penilaian.
