A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE
The Impact of Smart Philanthropy

We are grateful and proud of Bastion's remarkable achievements since our start
in 2016. As founders, we began this journey to address our own philanthropic
needs and support the causes we cared about.

We sought to create a platform that makes it easy for people to make a

difference. As donors, we have experienced the frustration of wanting to invest
in appropriate organizations, to find that it was not easy to understand where
money was going or how it was being used.

Our Smart Philanthropy approach remains at the core of our work. Bastion
provides the due diligence and project follow-up to provide the confidence that
the money will have the impact it should.

Today, we can confidently say Bastion has provided sound Philanthropic Advice
to many families, helping them to achieve their goals and make a meaningful
impact in the world.

Bastion has raised nearly $4 million, supporting 99 projects in 11 countries. In

2022 alone, we helped 27 projects with $1.9 million in philanthropic investments.
Our core mission is to provide support to education as a cornerstone of social
development and personal growth. Bastion has channeled support to projects
in various areas, including education, health, women empowerment, nutrition,
community leadership, and environmental education.

We are proud to create a space where families can invest in their values and
interests and watch the impact of their contributions. As we move forward, we
remain committed to our vision of Smart Philanthropy, where giving is easy,
transparent, and effective.

We are excited to continue growing and expanding our impact by seeking new
and innovative ways to support the causes that matter most to our investors
and make a difference in the world.

We want to express our gratitude to everyone who has made this possible,
especially our team. We are also fortunate to have a supportive and committed
Board of Directors who have selflessly joined us in this mission.

Finally, we want to thank the families that have trusted us to manage their
philanthropic investments.

THE BASTION EFFECT
The Bastion Effect is the transformative impact we witness when a project we support achieves
remarkable social development. As a foundation connecting funders with local initiatives, we
facilitate projects that bring about positive change. When these endeavors surpass their potential
and realize outcomes that wouldn’t have been possible without our involvement, we proudly
observe the profound influence of the Bastion Effect.
By bridging connections and supporting innovative initiatives, we create lasting and meaningful
impact, leaving a remarkable footprint on communities throughout Latin America.

Creating synergies among our local partners

Fe y Alegría Venezuela with American Venezuelan
Engagement Foundation (AVEF), 2020

During our quarterly informal meeting with our local

partner, Fe y Alegría, in April 2020, we realized that
transporting perishable food to schools was nearly
impossible due to fuel shortages and the COVID state of
alarm. We identified an opportunity to assist Fe y Alegría by
providing a nutritional and non-perishable product that
AVEF was using in another of our projects. Thus, a new
project was born. AVEF sent boxes of dehydrated vegetables
and proteins to Fe y Alegría, and trained the kitchen staff on
how to create delicious meals using these ingredients.

Giving the tools to succeed to entrepreneur
women in Venezuela and abroad
Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Venezuela
(AMEV), 2017-2023

AMEV was initially just a project started by two enthusiastic

women, and it began to gain momentum when Bastion
selected them to implement a training program for low-
income mothers in 2017. We have supported AMEV on its
journey ever since, witnessing its growth and celebrating
every achievement with them.
Today, more than 150 women have graduated from the
Semilleros program, which draws participants from all over
Latin America. Notably, 89% of the ventures launched by
program graduates are still active, a testament to the impact
of AMEV's work.

Acompañadas:
a little push goes a long way
Acompañadas, Manaus, Brazil. 2022

In Manaus, a Venezuelan migrant was dedicated to helping

single mothers from her home country who lacked a
support network. However, she faced a major challenge: she
needed funding but was unable to receive donations as she
did not have a registered nonprofit, nor the financial means
to establish one.
After conducting extensive research, we determined that she
was trustworthy and had a clear vision of what she wanted to
achieve. Through our network of donors, we found someone
willing to fund the legal procedures. In August 2022,
Acompañadas was officially established.
Since its founding, Acompañadas has made significant
progress. The organization is implementing programs in
collaboration with international agencies, has secured a
working space and a team. We are proud to have been a part
of this journey and to see the impact that Acompañadas is
making in the lives of vulnerable single mothers.
