CHLOE

Crochet pattern

MATERIALS

• 2.5 mm - 1/B crochet hook

• 2 different yarns for 2.5 mm crochet hook

Phildar Phil Coton 3 - 066 Elephant

Phildar Phil Coton 3 - 62 Poudre

• 30 cm / 11 inch satin ribbon

• 6 mm black safety eyes

• Tapestry or large sewing needle

• Stitch marker (optional, I use yarn)

• Fiberfill stuffing

1
Finished size and gauge
Chloe is approximately 18 cm / 7 inches tall. Exact gauge is not necessary for this
project. If you use a smaller hook with thinner yarn, the bat girl might be smaller.
Her measurements will change depending on the hook and yarn you use. It’s
important to crochet tight, to avoid the stuffing showing up after filling.

Notes and abbreviations

The pattern is written in US American crochet terms. You will use these stitches:

st = stitch

ch = chain

sc = single crochet

dc = double crochet

sk = skip

FLO = front loops only

FO = fasten off

Yo = yarn over

Rep = repeat

dec = decrease

beg = beginning

prev = previous

Invisible decrease: A method of decreasing. Insert hook into the front loop of the
next two stitches and pull a loop up through both. Yarn over and pull through last
two loops left on the hook.

Chloe is worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise instructed.

3
Body
Rnd 36-39. sc into each (30)

Start to stuff the body.

Legs
Flatten the doll and mark the places of the legs: 12
stitches for both legs and 3-3 stitches between them
on both sides.
You have to be very carefully with the marking
otherwise the head will look another way as the body.
Flatten the body part and make sure after you placed
your stitch markers or yarns for the legs, they are
perfectly in line with the head.

After you marked the places for the legs you need to check where your first stitch
is. If your last stitch ends up on any of the legs’ openings then don’t cut yarn and
continue with the leg as follows. If you’re in the 3 stitch place you need to cut yarn
but leave a long tail as you need to close that hole later. In this case join with a sl
st in the back for the doll’s leg.

Rnd 1. sc into each (12) When you reach your

marker just simply join the other side with
a single crochet.

4
Both of the legs are pointing into the doll’s midline. To
have this look we need to flatten the leg we have
already crocheted and find, maybe mark the sides of the
leg.

On the inside of the legs you need to increase but only
one time, and on the outside you need to decrease only
one time. So the number of the stitches will remain the
same (12) but this method will bend the legs into the
midline of the doll.

(As we can’t start the leg at the same place, I can’t give you precise DEC OUTSIDE INC INSIDE
numbers where to increase or decrease.)

Rnd 2. sc into each, inc inside and dec outside (12)

Rnd 3. sc into each WITHOUT inc or dec (12)
Rnd 4. rep Rnd 2 (12)
Rnd 5. {sc into 2, dec} 3 times (9)
Rnd 6. rep Rnd 2 (9)
Rnd 7. {sc into next, dec} 3 times (6)

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. Stuff the leg
firmly by using the point of a pencil or sg thin. Using the
yarn and a needle close up the hole by stitching back
and forth across the opening. Weave the end of the yarn
into the legs.

Before you start the other leg, close the three stitches
hole between the two legs. Stuff the body firmly before
closing it. Make another leg.

5
Nose
Place two to four pins into the 5th holes from both eyes between rows 15-16 (one
row below the eyes). Make a big knot into the end of the yarn, as it needs to be
"stuck" in her head. Embroider her nose as shown in the pictures and when you're
ready pull out the thread at the top of the head and fasten off, weave yarn into the
head.

Ears

Rnd 1. 6 sc into magic ring (6)
Rnd 2. {sc, inc} 3 times (9)
Rnd 3. sc into each (9)

Rnd 4. {sc into 2, inc} 3 times (12)
Rnd 5-7. sc into each (12)
Rnd 8. {sc into 4, dec} 2 times (10)
Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. Make another
one. With pink yarn embroider onto the top part of the
ears as shown in the pictures.

6
Secure them with a few pins and sew them carefully
onto the head.

Arms

Rnd 1. 6 sc into magic ring (6)
Rnd 2-13. sc into each (6)
Change to the colour.
Rnd 14-17. sc into each (6)

Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. Do not stuff
the arms. Close the hole of the arms.

Make another one. Secure them with a few pins and

sew them carefully onto the body.

Wings

Row 1. ch 5, form a ring. {Ch 4, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, dc} into the ring.
Row 2. ch 4, 3 dc into ch 1 space, {3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc} into the ch 2 space, 3 dc
into next ch 1 space, ch 1, dc into third ch of the beg of prev row
Row 3. ch 4, 3 dc into ch 1 space, 3 dc into each space between the clusters
of prev row until you get to the ch 2 space (middle). Into the ch 2
space: {3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc}, cont making 3 dc in each space between
clusters, 3 dc into ch 1 space, dc into third ch of the beg of prev row.
Row 4. rep Row 3.

7
1. 2. 3. 4.

Do not fasten off, now you’re going to crochet continuously the shells on the other
side of the wing:
6 dc into same space, sc into next space.
7 dc into the middle of the triangle, sc into next space
7 dc into next space, sc into last st. Fasten off and leave long tail for sewing. Make
another one.

8
Place the wing onto the back of the arm and body and secure it with a few pin.
Sew it continuously onto the bat.

Place the satin ribbon onto Chloe’s head and make a knot or a bow, as you prefer.

9
You are ready with Chloe. I hope you enjoyed making her as much as I enjoyed
making this pattern. Don’t forget, if you have any questions or need
clarifications on any of the instructions, I’m here to help you!

I would also love to see your version of Chloe so if you’re on Instagram mention
