Follow the cover letter guidelines in the reading.

C. Be realistic in preparing your cover letter and resume. Avoid fictional statements.

D. It is not mentioned in the Harvard guide, but you may include a section for References in your
resume, as it is expected in most Filipino professional settings. References can include former
professors, supervisors, org leaders, and others who are familiar with your educational and
working experience. As much as possible, you should include their name, position, and
contact information. When submitting a resume for potential employment, always ask
permission from your reference if you can use their name and information. For the purposes of
this class, you do not need to ask for their permission.

E. You may include a photo of yourself in your resume, as is expected in most Filipino
professional settings. It is usually placed in the upper left or right corner.

F. Upload both the cover letter and resume as one (1) PDF file to the VLE. The file name should
include COMM 11, your class section, your last name, and the assignment number. Example:
COMM 11 B - Lacanilao - Assignment 4.pdf

G. In extenuating circumstances, you may email your essay to pjlacanilao@up.edu.ph, with a

letter stating your name, class section, assignment number, and reason for emailing it. The
subject of your email should include COMM 11 and your course section.
