Battery Bank Discharge test (C10) Procedure

Method- I :

Battery Bank fully isolated condition { DG set should be healthy condition, in this method it will
run continuously for 11hrs }

1. Run the DG set in manual mode.

a. In case of IPMS Keep the IPMS in manual mode, DG and SVR in bypass mode
b. In case PIU, Keep in manual mode and DG in bypass mode.
2. After Extension of DG supply, Isolate the Battery Bank properly, i.e Remove the HRC fuse or
Turn OFF the MCB between DCPS/IPMS and Battery Bank.
{ Incase of IPMS, -ve 48V sensing cables should not be with Battery Bank HRC fuse}.

Regular Load Battery Bank External Load

(Equipment load) in DCPS (Discharge Kit load)

3. Connect the external load to Battery Bank.

{During connection, External load MCB should not be in ON condition, it may cause spark at
Battery Bank side}.

4. Set the parameters to perform the C10 test.

{Set parameters like end voltage, warning voltage, BB capacity, Test duration, test type, Test
current etc…}

5. Start the Test and note down the voltages in given format.
6. If cell voltage reaches to less than or equal to 1.75V, Stop/pause the test. Otherwise continue the
test upto 10hours.
7. After Completion of Test, Connect the HRC fuse or Turn ON the MCB between DCPS/IPMS and
Battery Bank. Now Battery Bank came to charge mode.

Method- II :

Regular load (Equipment load) in parallel with External load.

{ Follow this method if site is having dual DCPS with Battery Bank}
OR
{ If you want to avoid the long run of DG and you are having previous healthy report of Battery
Bank}

1. Run the DG set in manual mode.

c. In case of IPMS Keep the IPMS in manual mode, DG and SVR in bypass mode
3. Connect the external load in parallel with regular load to Battery Bank as shown in below:

(Equipment load) in DCPS (Discharge Kit load)

MCB-OFF
4. Connect the HRC fuse or Turn ON the MCB between DCPS/IPMS and Battery Bank.
5. Turn OFF the DG and extend the AC mains supply.
6. Set the parameters to perform the C10 test.
{Set parameters like end voltage , warning voltage, BB capacity, Test duration, test type , Test
current etc…}
7. Turn OFF the SMR’s
8. Start the C10 test (ON the Load MCB’s in External load Kit) and note down the voltages in given
format.
9. Case-i :
If Battery Bank voltage reaches to Warning voltage (User define value in set parameters) then
pause the test and follow Method-I.
Case-ii :
If cell voltage reaches to less than or equal to 1.75V, Stop/pause the test. Otherwise continue the
test upto 10hours.
After completion of the test Turn ON the SMR’s.
