8 Course Description This course is designed for BSEE students to attain
an in-depth understanding of the design,
construction and working principles of direct
current motors and generators. The course
begins with a discussion of the principles of motor
and generator actions, construction as well as
the different parts of dc electromechanical
rotating machines (dynamo). Succeeding topics
cover the different types, operating
characteristics and efficiency of dc generator
and motors
9 Course Learning As a result of their educational experiences in the
Outcomes course EE 3111, students should be able to:

CLO 1: distinguish the difference between


generators and motors;

CLO 2: familiarize with the different types of direct


current generators and motors;

CLO 3: analyze the characteristics of direct


current generators and motors; and

10 Learner’s Profile and The students enrolled in the course are third-year
Context students with a strong background in electrical
circuits analysis and electromagnetics. This
course can be accessed through the internet
connection at home or on mobile devices and
through the offline mode of delivery made
available through express mail correspondence.
This course requires each student to have at least
a laptop or a desktop computer to open,
process, and save lessons and requirements in
electronic form.
11 Assessment and The course has formative and summative
Evaluation Details assessment activities. These activities will be
administered in either of the two modes:

a) via online correspondence through the SLU


Google Suite institutional subscription, SLU E-
Learning Resources, SLU Student Portal, and
other online tools

b) via Offline correspondence through printed


and recorded materials that will be sent through
express mail services

To assess students’ attainment of the learning


outcomes, course requirements are given in the
form of graded quizzes and major examinations.

Online students shall submit their course


requirement through Google Classroom. Offline
students shall save their work in a USB flash drive
and send it via express mail.

12 Monitoring Details Students with internet connection will be


monitored through the SLU Student Portal and
through their participation in the Google
Classroom and other forms of online activities.

Students without any internet connection will be


monitored through:

a. Telephone calls or short messages


(through SMS) at least once a week;
b. Express mail correspondence of printed
modules and requirements between the
faculty and the student at designated
schedules;
c. Express mail correspondence of USB flash
drive containing electronically encoded
instruction modules and course
requirements (in text, audio, and/or video
format) between the faculty and the
student at designated schedules.
13 Technological Support The online delivery of this course will be
supported by the SLU Google Suite institutional
subscription, SLU E-Learning Resources, and SLU
Student Portal, and other online tools.

The offline delivery will require the use of one


16GB USB flash drive to send the recorded
materials for students without an internet
connection. The same flash drive will be used by
the student to submit the required outputs to their
instructor.

14 Course Budget The cost of the flash drive and shipping fees shall
be shouldered by each student who decides to
avail of the offline mode of instructional delivery.
The total actual cost shall be charged in full
