CGNNE Chief Engineer visits Project Melaka site

T
he Project Melaka development continues to generate
great interest, given its proposed plant up capacity,
development cost and the significance of the new
power project to the electrification requirement of Malaysia
after 2021.

Mr Liu Luping, Chief Engineer of CGNNE flew in to Kuala


Lumpur on 16 May 2017 for a brief two-day working visit to
Edra. The entourage from CGNNE also included Mr Henry
Chu, Mr Oscar Huang and Mr Guan Cheng Jie.

Day one of the itinerary focused mainly on Project Melaka.


The day’s programme included briefings by the Project
Melaka management team, discussions with the EPC
Contractors and followed by the Project Melaka tour for a
first-hand knowledge of the construction site and to assess
the physical site work progress.

Project Melaka seal agreements on EPC and LTSA

P
roject Melaka continues to make great
strides as it achieved yet another
milestone in its journey towards
developing Malaysia’s largest and most
efficient 2,242 MW Combined Cycle Gas
Turbine (CCGT) plant by 2021.

Hot on the heels of its PPA and GSA signings EPC Signing LTSA Signing

HPL signs Long Term Parts Management agreement Port Said East Power

aripur Power Limited (HPL) has signed a multi-
year Long Term Parts Management agreement with
Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) for the
supply of parts for the gas turbines at HPL plant.

The signing, which took place on July 4th, 2017 at Edra’s


Head Office in Kuala Lumpur, marks the successful
completion of an extensive negotiation between both parties
following the expiry of the previous agreement.

The new agreement will have a tenure of approximately 6


years, commencing from February 2017 to November 2023.

undertake to repair/replace PSEP’s damaged

scheduled outage in October 2017.

BPDB engineers visit MPL plant

M
eghnaghat Power Limited (MPL) played host to some
50 newly employed engineers of Bangladesh Power
Development Board (BPDB)’s Training Centre in
Ghorasal, Bangladesh.

The visit to the MPL plant, which took place on 17 July 2017,
is part of the Induction Training course for BPDB engineers
to familiarise with the different plant technologies available in
Bangladesh. The delegation was led by Mr. Md. Abul Kalam
Azad, Sub-Divisional Engineer of Training Centre.

At the MPL plant, the new engineers had the opportunity to


learn about the operations of a combined cycle power plant,
the process flow, the functions of the major equipment, as well
as the safety standards that are practised at the plant.

During the full day visit, Mr. Md. Mahfuzul Islam, Assistant
Manager (Performance) took the delegation on a guided tour
of the plant which included the Control Room, Steam Turbine,
Gas Turbine and Balance of Plant area. To complete their tour
experience, MPL hosted the visitors to a lunch reception at the
plant’s staff canteen.

At the end of the tour, the delegation expressed their


appreciation to the MPL management for the hospitality and
knowledge shared. The visit has certainly given them a better
understanding of the running of a combined cycle power plant.

hence, the need to ensure that there is a

The meeting also walked through the


various templates used for reporting by HR
and Finance respectively, the accounting
methods in use, key focus areas in the staff
cost budget, Jiu Qi financial system adopted
by CGN, and the relevant budget controls.

The session has certainly helped to provide


better understanding for both the HR and
Finance teams working on the annual staff
cost budgeting and hopefully, make it easier
when the next budget cycle comes around.

Durians, durians and


more durians
A
hhh, durians … love them or loathe
them! But for the folks at KLPP, the
annual Durian Party is a much looked
forward to event.

This is one event that is planned on short


notice. It has to coincide with the durian
harvest season so as to ensure we get good
quality fruits. As soon as the phone call
comes in from the supplier in Pahang, the
team at KLPP immediately kicks into action
to organise the party within a week.

This year, the durian party took place on

XMUM Mobile Competition


A
s part of its CSR initiatives to nurture young talents,
Edra sponsored a competition that promotes creative
skills through the one gadget that has literally
redefined the way we live – smartphones!

Only smartphones can be used to submit entries for the


XMUM Mobile Competition 2017, which was divided into
three categories, namely, Mobile Photography, Mobile
Filmmaking and Corporate Video.

The competition was organised by the Center for Mobile


Studies of Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM). XMUM
is the first overseas campus approved by the Chinese
government to be set up by a Chinese university, and its
campus is located at Bandar Sunsuria, Sepang in Selangor.

For the Mobile Photography category, each entry must


consist of 8 pictures complete with unique stories of
XMUM. For the Mobile Filmmaking, each entry must be 1
to 3 minutes long, and for Corporate Video, 3 to 5 minutes.

Aimed at developing interests in mobile studies and honing


students’ skills in mobile filmmaking, photography and
corporate video production, the competition attracted some
80 entries from amongst the XMUM students.

As the sponsor of the competition, Edra was invited to do the


honours at the prize presentation ceremony held on 28 June
2017 at XMUM Campus. Edra Group Chief Financial Officer,
Mr Li Wei Qiang gave away the prizes to the winners. First,
second and third prize winners for each category receive
cash worth RM800, RM500 and RM300 respectively.

Under the Mobile Photography category, the first prize


winner was Jocelyn How Hui Ying with her entry titled
“XMUM, our T-junction”.

submitted did not meet the standards of quality established.
